Wherethefoxhat? Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 What a wicketkeeper------ Just broken the record for most test match dismissals by a gloveman & has a batting average of nearly 50 ! Hats off to you sir !! (Pity he's an Aussie )
Ultra Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 He's still a quality player. I'm glad he won't be on Australia's next Ashes tour. Mark Boucher will probably take the catches record away from him, but he's been a key part of one of the best Test teams of all time.

Joe. Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 He's been a superb wicket-keeper and batsmen over the years for the Aussies, well done to him. Glad we won't have to face him in the Ashes tour like Ultra says.
SamL Posted 26 January 2008 Posted 26 January 2008 Well we might have an easier time of it when the Ashes comes round next. But his replacement will probably be Brad Haddin who's not so bad himself What a player Gilchrist has been though.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 27 January 2008 Posted 27 January 2008 Sad and glad his retiering cos at his peak best bat in the world but has only averaged 30 odd for the last 2 years and his keeping has dropped considerably. Also will be great to see Haddin get the gloves as he is an exeptional gloveman and a top bat he was even playing in our one day side in India as a specialist batsmen and will be great to see him get a shot as he would be probably best kepper in the world if it wasn't for Gilly

Dissapointed with Shaun Tait on current Indian team tour, but, that's another story. Well done Gilly, thanx for the memories!
Micky Ruddle Posted 27 January 2008 Posted 27 January 2008 Gilchrist - His attitude towards batting is quality. No messing. He'll have to hold the fort if need be, but he'll usually get quick-fire runs. Shame, in cricket-terms, that he won't be playing again, but for us English people, hopefully their next keeper will be the Jimmy Neilsen of Leicester
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 Gilly just took a good catch down the leg side while i was in this thread showing his still got it
RizLCFC Posted 1 February 2008 Posted 1 February 2008 Over rated. He looked good today behind the wicket I thought!
RizLCFC Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Further backing for why he is the best wicket bastman ever, great 118 against the Indians, a joy to watch!!!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 Further backing for why he is the best wicket bastman ever, great 118 against the Indians, a joy to watch!!! I will be seeing him for the last time on Friday Nite
RizLCFC Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 I will be seeing him for the last time on Friday Nite Will be sad and quite emotional in his final game, but, he's given us great memories and Haddin is a class act as a replacement.
