Molson Canadian Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 http://web.mlsnet.com/news/team_news.jsp?y...p&team=t280 Toronto FC announced Friday a restructuring within the club's soccer operations that broadens the scope of responsibility for Mo Johnston and adds additional European coaching experience to the soccer staff. Johnston's new title will be Toronto FC Manager and Director of Soccer. John Carver has been named head coach of Toronto FC. The moves put in place a structure that is similar to that of most European clubs. Carver, 43, joins Toronto FC from Luton Town of England's First Division where he served as head coach. The Newcastle native was the assistant manager to English football legend Bobby Robson at Newcastle United beginning in August of 2004. Following the firing of Robson in September of that year, he was given the interim role of caretaker manager for one game before the club hired Graeme Souness as manager. Carver was appointed caretaker manager in July of 2005 at Leeds United taking over from the departed Adrian Boothroyd, and was promoted to assistant manager in July of 2006. In September of that year he was named caretaker manager after Kevin Blackwell was fired and held that position through October of 2006. Carver was reunited with Blackwell at Luton Town where he has been manager since March of 2007.
purpleronnie Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Its MLS actually. Toronto are mad on 'soccer' the crowds over there but us lot to shame.
MC Prussian Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 Its MLS actually. Toronto are mad on 'soccer' the crowds over there but us lot to shame. I'd say it's mainly thanks to a large Italian and Irish community in T.Dot - both footy mad! MAD!!! I remember seeing highlights of that one game against New England Revolution where they all threw red frisbees onto the pitch!!!
Kip Riptide Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 While we're on the subject of MLS Molson, i notice that Toronto is in the same "Conference" as DC United. Have you had a chance to see that little Brazilian genius Fred yet? I notice his season so far reads 28 Games, 7 Goals, 7 Assists, which certainly doesn't look to shabby on paper!

Kip Riptide Posted 2 February 2008 Posted 2 February 2008 I want him back He was awesome for us, no doubt. The title was in large part thanks to the creativity he brought to our game. I still think that Fatty Hernandez will come good though. He was starting to show a bit at the end of the season, and with a full preseason under his belt I reckon he could help propel us up the table next year. Looking back though, losing two gun players like Fred and Leijer was always going to make it hard for the Victory to win back to back titles
