Ronaldinho To Join Ronaldo

The real deal's real deal ain't with Sven according to The Times:

Mr Berlusconi, who was hoarse and occasionally lost his thread – remarking jocularly: “I’m getting old” – appeared taken aback when his announcement that the footballer Ronaldinho was joining AC Milan (which he owns) was greeted with whistles and jeers.

This is backed up by Soccer America:

Reports all over the place are claiming that Ronaldinho's transfer to AC Milan is an all but done deal. Spanish paper El Mundo Deportivo reported that the Barcelona playmaker would sign with Milan for about $47.4 million, after the two sides reached what Bloomberg News described as an "outline agreement" for the player's transfer when the European window opens on June 1. El Mundo added that the deal now depends on him agreeing to personal terms with the Serie A club.

Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport confirmed that Ronaldinho's brother/agent Roberto de Assis had traveled to Milan to strike the deal. De Assis said, "We only want Milan. We are here for this. Otherwise he will stay at Barca."

Of course this explains why His Majesty is presently diplomatically injured (couldn't they come up with something a bit more urgent sounding than a 'thigh strain' how about something like double compound fracture of the cock?) and indisposed for the rest of the season. So current mediocre team mates Eto'o (cool to have a punctuated name don't you think? But an exclamation mark would be much cooler than an apostrophe eg Akinbiyi!) Messi and Henry will be left to handle the 'Young Pretender' all by themselves in a couple of weeks time. Should be fun.

Of course at Milan the Gaucho will hook up with the former emperor Ronaldo for the traditional Sunday roast. The real Ronaldo that is, THE Ronaldo as in Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima not the paper imitation Ronny-Two-Names with the stiff sprint action and the over hit afterthoughts often mistaken for passes by the easily pleased.

You see true greats have bad teeth and wouldn't degrade their art by playing in the Premier League (they have an irrational fear that their careers might be ended prematurely with a crunching tackle by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs).

Writing with style is only useful and clever if one has good style. Unfortunately, you don't, so you'd have done much better to just write simply that Ronaldinho is set for a move to Milan and that you dislike Johnnies Foreigner.

Anyone with a gram of grey matter will recognize that you have, in fact, paid me a backhanded compliment - thanks for the ego boost. On the other hand...you appear to have incorrectly decrypted my ironic code.

Was my symbolism too obscure or was your enigma machine playing up?

Using Soccer America as a source? About as much use as using the Sunday Sport

No, as much use as the authoritative 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' from where Soccer America's report was obviously lifted if you had bothered to read the quote carefully...

So that's what it meant

You were the one who said it was backed up by Soccer America.....

No, but I did put your message through my Little Orphan Annie Secret Decoder Ring; unfortunately, I only got a message telling me to be sure to drink my Ovaltine.

Because, idiot, it was the Soccer America report that I cited. Or would you prefer that I pasted the words direct from the horse's mouth?
