SamL Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 City defender Joe Mattock has been selected for an England Under-19 Training Camp and initial squad for the UEFA European Championship Finals in the Czech Republic next month.The three-day training camp at the National Football Centre at Burton-on-Trent will take place from Sunday, June 29 to Tuesday, July 1 and will consist of 23 players including Mattock. Head Coach Brian Eastick will then whittle the squad down to 18 players who will then travel to the Czech Republic for the Euros which are to take place from Monday, July 14 to Saturday, July 26. The Young Lions have been drawn out to face the hosts Czech Republic, Italy and Greece in Group B which will be based in Liberec. Meanwhile, Group A, which will be based in Prague, contains Germany, Spain, Hungary and Bulgaria.

If he isn't sold and is selected for England, it'll really mess up our pre-season as we'll need to be playing our full strength team to build some consistency and surely Mattock would be part of that. Still, it's a great opportunity for Joe to impress and make a name for himself.
iancognito Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 He's already being stalked by two or three clubs anyway, having a good tournament would pretty much give him a contract with a Premier or Championship club. By the time we have a new manager, O'Neill will have finished his stint for the BBC and the negotiations will begin I'd imagine. Good luck to Joe, though
