southcoastfox Posted 8 July 2008 Posted 8 July 2008 The original deal was for four weeks which was extended to christmas and then extended to the end of the season. I think the reason may have less to do with holloway than Milans relationship with Kevin bond. Maxi was great but at the start of the season he was a one trick pony. Towards the middle of the season he had clearly learned from the coaching he got and instead of trying to beat every player he came across he started to get a bit more savvy. He still had his off days and would tend to be marginalised by the combination of big defenders pushing him over and weak refs allowing them to. He showed a massive amount of charachter taking the penalty after his enforced break looking after his family in France. One of the few players who always acknowledges the fans he has a very dry sense of humour for a frenchie and I suspect may have been having al augh at your expense given that he knew that for the last third of the season he played in a team that included Sam Vokes who was linked with Newcastle every second day before going to Wolves. Maxi is not a one man team. He will have his off days and will have the odd petulant little rant but overall he is massive talent and a great prospect. I suspect he doesn't have the build for the premiership but then again...
