Unabomber Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 Max Gradel will not join Newcastle, it just won't happen. Not yet anyway. Phew /Thread
Thracian Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 I'm sick of this - the loosely veiled criticism of quality players who Leicester City have hardly embraced. Max Gradel has been offered and has signed a long term contract with Leicester City because Milan Mandaric knows his asset value, simple as that. Others at the club loved the guy, no question, but at the start of last season Mandaric and our manager at the time didn't think he was good enough for our first team. Fair enough I'd say if Cristiano Ronaldo was in the wings but a sodding insult seeing as Sean Newton, Gabor Bori and whatsisname Etuhu filled the right wing berth with less productive impact than an impotent flea bonking a mastadon. Sheehan gets stick about loyalty despite being replaced after his five assists and two goals in half a season by a loanee called Jamie Clapham who never threatened either a goal or an assist on all the occasions he played leading up to our relegation. How the hell were Gradel and Sheehan supposed to feel? We've already lost one and are lucky to have the other. Gradel's three year contract is no compliment it is blatant asset protection. Showing the faith to put him in the team and believe in himn would be a compliment and it's about time it was paid. If it's not too late.

If Max Gradel is so depressed about playing for this club then why did he sign a 3 Year Contract in the Mid Season? He was also at Bournemouth the season before, which is totally understandable. He's simply not ready to of played Championship Football. We've got the League One and I bet he's thinking, "right the manager knows of my track record in this league." A decent club with decent facilities is what a up and coming player needs and we've got it. It isn't going to help Gradel sitting on the bench at Newcastle or Championship Clubs for that matter? What has he proved? The time is right for Gradel tbh, let's see what he can do in this division. As for Sheehan, he's got a shit attatude. Starting from when he got sent off at Home to Crewe a few Seasons Back.

Not ready to better the performances of the players I've mentioned? You've clearly seen a different Max Gradel to the one I've watched. .

You've clearly seen a different Max Gradel to the one I've watched. . He didn';t have a release clause in his deal, so mentioning players like bori, etuthu and anyone signed after he was loaned is pointless really. We sent him on loan, he got experiance and did well. With the problems he had last season, playing in front of our crowd could have had a bad effect
Tevez Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 What Max Gradel have you watched? How much was a ticket for Bournemouths League Games. Ohhhh your basing him on Under 18s? Well done, much similar to the first team set up. You've also not answered my question, What has Gradel Proved???
Collymore Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 Steve Walsh was a scout at Newcastle so any knowledge about maxi would have come through him you would have thought. Now Steve's a Leicester emploee - Maybe he's undercover

Gradel's a professional footballer not someone's household soft toy. He could have had his experience helping us avoid relegation. Cos no other winger helped much.

I see what your saying but at the time he was loaned out no-one at the club was thinking of avoiding relagation quite the opposite, If there wasnt a recall option in his loan deal then there is nothing we could have done about it.

What right-thinking professional club would not include a recall clause? Not that Gradel should have gone anyway when it was perfectly obvious he was needed here. We'd all watched Newton play the season before and it was obvious his time had gone and that Gradel was a far better bet.
act smiley Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 The deal was originally half a season, but Holloway extended it, if I remember rightly? To me it looked like a good decision to loan him out in the first place for a bit of first team experience but extending it now looks like a poor decision, but I don't really see what the relevance is. He's obviously proved at this point he can do the business, but hindsight and all that.

As for Newton im fairly sure im a better player than him.

I'm happy to back the judgement of my own eyes but it you're big on "proof" where did Newton, Etuhu, Clapham, Cort, Fryatt, Laczko and Bori fit in?

Er, yes there was. Bournemouth were in administration for half the season, therefore they shouldn't have had players on loan in the first place. We could have requested Gradel back at ANY stage, but Holloway, for reasons only he can explain, chose not to do so.

Not to mention Kaebi, Hayes and various others that were also tried on the wing. Given the rave reviews Gradel was getting at Bournemouth (despite well-publicised domestic issues), it's difficult to believe he wouldn't have contributed more to our cause than any of the above.

Well done to Jamie Clapham, signed and cemented his place in the side. Oh who infront of exactly? Alan Sheehan Shaun Newton hardly ever had a bad game. Where did we borrow Etuhu from? Man City? Oh yeah he's not doing bad for himself is he? Must be shite. Carl Cort on the left wing? Some sort of sick joke? Fryatt wasn't bad for saying he was out of position. Laczko and Bori, well decide for yourself. Come to the England with no knowledge of the English Language and get Standing Ovations. Ok I agree, Average players.. But where does Gradel come to this? If he was that good he must of got recalled. Do the maths.

Nick Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/7485216.stm Newcastle signed this geezer. Not sure which side he plays, maybe Max is out of luck. N.
Flynny Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 What a load of fuss over nothing. I'm sure he'll not be going anywhere and if he does none of us have even seen him, despite his obvious promise.
