Alexikokopops Posted 1 September 2008 Author Posted 1 September 2008 I may have managed to salvage my old computer using my housemate who knows a bit more about them than me. This could render this whole thread redundant, as I could potentially wait until I start earning the big bucks (I start my job proper on the 29th) and afford a Mac after all, basking in its sexy non-breaking glory.
hebangsthedrums Posted 1 September 2008 Posted 1 September 2008 Dell will give you most bang for your buck - I'mwriting this now on a vostro 1510 I got a few months ago for just over £300. Ayone who says go to PC world is mental.

Macs may be sexy, but non-breaking I doubt. I detest the things, they're rubbish but covered in shiny so nobody notices.

My housemate's had his iBook for 4 and a half years and it still works fine. I've had my laptop for less than half that time. They're definitely more reliable than PCs!
The Reverend Posted 2 September 2008 Posted 2 September 2008 I bought 512 mb of RAM for my laptop yesterday off ebay, cost me 20 quid. Once i get that on, it'll give my laptop a whopping 1024 mb of RAM! Turns out my laptop only has 2 RAM slots, so what i had before was 2 x 256mb RAM. Now i have 1 x 512mb and 2 x 256mb RAM, making a total of 768mb as i only have 2 slots! Bugger! Looks like i'll have to get another 512mb one, if i want the maximum RAM my laptop can take, 1024mb. Bugger! Anyone want to buy 2 256mb RAM cards?
