dandannieldanok Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 Not bad for a "village club player" True, but as Phube says he's got that by winning 11 matches and losing a hell of a lot more, his earnings don't reflect his ability. Although the majority of premier league earn disgracefully high wages, at least the major earners like Lampard and Terry e.t.c. are winners unlike Bogdanovic who completely capitulated on the biggest day of his career. Basically, the LTA need to seriously review their strategies and investment to bringing new players through. Even at only 24, Bogdanovic is certainly not the start of a bright future for British tennis.

You do have to qualify to get to these tounaments... so he has won more than 11 games in his career, but there the ones that have earned him the money!

We have 9 lads in the junior top 100, and the focus is on them. I'm just defending him a bit here, cus he's become a national joke for not being good enough. Well hey, all those slating him weren't good enough either, but at least he's pocketing the $500,000 before he joins the rest of us for the 9 to 5. He's not a joke, just not good enough.
Uncle Albert Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 Anyone seen what Andy Murray has come out and said about the GB team?

Agreed, he's not a joke but I'm just coming from the viewpoint of frustration at the apparent lack of fight when things turned against him in, as I've already said, the biggest game of his career. He saw Andy Murray (albeit a much, much better player) dig himself out of a tough match against Melzer with true grit and determination, I just can't fathom why he didn't appear to do the same and get the crowd going when Peya got on top.

Uncle Albert Posted 22 September 2008 Posted 22 September 2008 British number one Andy Murray hit out at the approach of his GB team-mates after the Davis Cup defeat by Austria. Alex Bogdanovic's loss to Alex Peya in Sunday's final rubber meant Britain were relegated from the World Group. Murray said: "The guys in the other matches didn't get the crowd involved. When Alex fell behind, I didn't see any fist-pumps or hear any 'Come-ons'. "Even if you're breaking racquets I don't care - I just want to see you're desperate to win the match." Murray added: "In both my matches I showed a lot of emotion and got the crowd involved. "You have to take advantage of home support. It should be a huge advantage. That's why home teams win 82% of Davis Cup matches. "The crowd in my match was very good. In Alex's match it looked as if a lot of people left and the atmosphere was not very good."
