I've a pond at the bottom of my garden and the route from the garage to the my front door is a frog/toad highway. Anyways, coming home late the other night (through the poorly lit garden) I managed to 'impale' a toad onto my stiletto heel. Didn't realise until I got indoors, went to unzip my boot and noticed it writhing around well and truly spiked on the heel, but obviously still alive!!! The boot (and attached toad) got flung outside quicker than you can imagine. And left, in the hope that the 'problem' would have somehow resolved itself by the morning. (Apologies to all toad fans and wildlife protection activists!) Fortunately (for me, not the toad, I guess) it died overnight, dried up a bit and fell off the heel when I picked the boot up (having prodded it with a long stick from a safe distance for quite some time). Thoroughly rank though.
