Rufus is the greatest person ever!!

Seriously, I saw him live last night in Nottingham, and it's possibly the greast gig I've ever been too!!

I love Rufus, he's the best.

And he's a funny guy too :D

I recommend "The One You Love", "Gay Messiah", "Cigarettes And Chocolate Milk", "California", "14th Street", "What A World" to name a few, they're bloomin' marvellous

Plus I am now the owner of what is offically the gayest t-shirt you will ever see in your life

It's brilliant!! :D

Mine's more a a salmon pink though.

My first "contact" with Rufus' music was back in 2002 when I flew to Canada for the first time. My neighbour on the plane was Eric, a young Canadian from the Toronto area, and during the flight, we got acquainted.

In the parlay, the music on the headphones was still running and one of the songs was "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk". Eric told me some funny stories about why this particular song fits well with a female-involving tête-à-tête at your own home... lol:banana:

Back in Switzerland, I bought the CD "Poses" and found out that there are several other fine tracks on it, like "Shadows", "Grey Gardens", "Rebel Prince" or the eerie "Evil Angel".

Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright was born on 22nd of July 1973 in Rhinebeck, New York, USA to Loudon Wainwright III. and Kate McGarrigle. He grew up in the bilingual city of Montréal, Québec, Canada and is half American/half Canadian. He got nominated for the Canadian "Emmy", the "Juno" in 1999.

He has a very clear voice with a nasal touch, sounds like a little boy sometimes.

The first "Shrek" movie features his song "Hallelujah". In "Moulin Rouge", you can hear his "Complainte De La Butte".

He has also appeared on Martin Scorsese's last film "The Aviator" as the lead singer on stage very early on, with his gray-haired father Loudon playing the piano.

A personal quote:

"Why be in music, why write songs, if you can't use them to explore life or an idealized vision of life? I believe a lot of our lives are spent asleep, and what I've been trying to do is hold on to those moments when a little spark cuts through the fog and nudges you."

Rufus Wainwright, as bent as a nine bob note.

That is correct.

But he's still brilliant!!

And Mr. Swiss, I applaud you

Rufus is also on the latest Bridget Jones movie soundtrack.

I would write a longer reply, but I have to walk my cousin home.

The One You Love is a great song.

Just before he played that he said "This next song is, well, it's a hit goddammit!!"

Made me laugh.

I'd say that and "14th Street" are my favourite songs.

I just came on to write this exact same thread.

I agree he is quality.

i had never heard of him till last November when my Mum heard him on Jools Holland or whatever and see raves all about him all the time. When mother found he was gay she was gutted  She brought 5 of his Want One albums and gave them all out to friends and now they all love him.

Mother has all the albums now and also went to Nott last Wednesday to see him.

I like Oh What a world (track one from want 1 i think)

A nice lady gave me a polo and asked if I was gay when I saw him at Nottingham :D

Oh What A World is brilliant.

My favourite song (I've finally decided) is 14th Street (track 8 on Want One).

I'm gonna register properly on iTunes, because there's an iTunes exclusive "Live in Montreal" album he's done and I want it.

It'll be my first ever purchase off iTunes :)

I got his Live EP which is an iTunes exclusive, it took one hell of a lot of work (because you can't buy it on UK iTunes, aonly American, it got very complicated).

It's pretty nifty :)

The Royal Concert Hall.

First time I've been there, but I've been to Rock City and the Rescue Rooms many a time because Nottingham is the nearest place for me to see gigs when I'm at home.

Haven't been to either of them for a while cus I've been in Coventry.

Last time I went to Rescue Rooms was December (to see "Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra-la-la Band" a.k.a. "A Silver Mount Zion").

Can't remember the last time I was at Rock City.
