Phube Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Owen, who has suffered from a series of injuries since moving to St James' Park from Real Madrid in 2005, could boost his basic weekly wage with bonuses that will be paid if he plays in 80% of the Magpies' games. (Various) Wow... a bonus for actually working!! I wish we were all so lucky!!
Jay Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Wow... a bonus for actually working!! I wish we were all so lucky!! is it not the same for a massive number of different jobs in different sectors? you have targets to reach if you hit those targets you get a bonus

But being paid extra... to be fit!?!
Jay Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Yes targets like making money etc (for sales staff), which would be like him on a goal/win bonus - which is fine....But being paid extra... to be fit!?! but up in the factory where I work they are paid an attendance bonus which is a very similar thing imo it's common practice at quite a few factories from what I understand. and shift bonuses as well they are common practice in factories
lildave3 Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Basically, Newcastle don't want to be paying him 100k a week if he's going to be on the treatment table as usual, so offer a lower amount per week, but it'll amount to the same thing if he plays the number of games required.
