Cobbo Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Bunn - 5 - might have done better with the first, unlucky with the second. Some questionable kicks too. Gilbert - 7 - thought this was a much improved performance. Mattock - 6 Morrison - 6 Brown - 4 - bad game, he knew it too. Got too tight to their strikers when we're holding a highish line and was turned so many times. Oakley - 6 King - 6 Berner - 6 Dyer - 6 Whole of the midfield was average. Fryatt - 7 - great goal having watched it on lcfc world. Howard - 6 Subs: Cleverley - 6 Gradel - 10 - that was the best feeling I've felt after us scoring...since the Palace play off final I think. Powell - NA

Fox in a Box Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Bunn 5 - Safe pair of hands, couldnt do much to stop the first ( I was sat within 25 yds of the keeper, very powerful shot I doubt most keepers would have saved. Gilbert 7 Best Defender on the day, I just wish he did this more often, promised so much and always kept composed. Morrison 3 - Supspect defender, doesnt seem focused 100% Brown 3 - Poor game and thats it, I hope he can improve on his game as he looks decent but was off today for sure. Mattock 5 - Steady performance from him today, passes went amiss thou. Oakley 6 - I bellowed at him to rally the troops at corners (MK's) thats the captains job, otherwise ok. King 3 - Outplayed for 95% of the game, not a good day. Berner 4 - Poor from mr consistant Dyer 4 - Looks weary and not slinning players like he did in the first part of the season.... bench warmer soon! Howard 6 -ODid OK, but Di Matteo had him sussed before the game, they put 2 on him all game Fryatt 6 - Good finish at this level, need to step up his game I think a little on 2 in 12 needs to be more prolific! (joke), most teams have him man marked now. Subs: Cleverley 3- At fault for the second goal, he game the ball away that lead to the goal. Gradel 8 - Great play from a player who has not featured in recent weeks. Worked hard when he came on and then delivered the killer blow to MK. Deserves a starting place ahead of Dyer without a shadow of a doubt, but only if he keeps working hard Powell 6 No player actually got passed him during his time on the pitch, well played and I guess expereince counted. Pearson 5 - Unsure about his ability to hold a lead sometimes, he prefers to keep it simple which can be his downfall, his tactical awareness is very good thou and seems to be able to problem solve with the players at his disposal at present.
Guest Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Bunn - 5 - Felt a bit for the guy since the defence in front of him weren't at the races to be honest Gilbert - 6 Morrison - 5 Brown - 4 Mattock - 5 - Caught out of position a couple of times but wasn't helped by Brown to be honest, you could see how pissed off he was on a couple of occasions Dyer - 4 - Think he needs a rest, and to fight for his position, hopefully Gradel will start tuesday to get a bit of competition going for starting there King - 5 - Off day I thought, but still one of my fave players this season Berner - 6 Oakley - 7 Fryatt - 7 Howard - 6 Gradel - 8 - for rescuing a point and one of the best free kicks I've seen in a while Cleverley - 6 Powell - 6
Edmund Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Brown 3 (How bad can a first team centre-back be? Skinned and left for dead with their first goal he never tried to recover as if his life depended on it and was generally sloppy. His distribution was just like the first half at Hartlepool, totally aimless. He had his hands on his hips looking knackered after barely half and hour and never inspired confidence at any stage. Jesus did he really play that badly? Thought that score would be given after a scoring an own goal and a sending off.
Thracian Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Jesus did he really play that badly? Thought that score would be given after a scoring an own goal and a sending off. Be thankful. I wasn't that inclined to even give him three. Their first goal was so much down to Brown that it might as well have been an own goal and his distribution was such that I wouldn't have much minded him going off anyway. Pity we can't get a group of Manchester United defenders down here for a week to demonstrate how to win the ball and retain possession in the back half of the field. I was pointing out to my lad during yesterday's cup final how few times a member of United's back line lofted the ball forward. You had to be quite patient to see it. And their back line were basically 12 yards behind the midfield line with Scholes often tucked in between the two. When possession was won, both lines moved forward. There were no great gaps between the two at any time. Considering United hardly ever concede you'd think others would accept that this is the way forward. And don't suggest to me it's simply about skill. It's about philosophy and habit. Our defenders give possession away like its mandatory and they do so because our manager and coaches seem to accept it. I don't even think Brown can't pass the ball. I think his choice of humping the ball hopefully forward is the same as with some of our other defenders, it's the get-out option - the option that saves them having to keep supporting the move and so risk getting caught short because they are not quick enough or mobile enough to recover. No wonder therefore that we lack rhythm in the team and our attacks are so poorly supported.
CosbehFox Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 How I miss the days of Tunch and his beautiful disturbtion. He's just calm compared to Brown, there is no way he'd allow that amount of room that Brown did to Puncheon.
