Tommeh Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 That Huddersfield picture is quite brilliant but at the same time horrible, sums it all up for me.
Fosse Boy Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Good video, but do enough people actually care enought to ever make a real difference?
StanSP Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 That Huddersfield picture is quite brilliant but at the same time horrible, sums it all up for me. Agreed. Surely only showing one side of the coin though? Some people will fairly reminisce in what the video portrays as the good days of football. But there have been quite a few and fair positives that have come out of moving stadium and Sky's influences on the game.

Shrenchel Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Such as... The quality of the football. On the fan side of things, fook all unless you're an overweight cockney manchester united supporter with a full sky package.
Guest Bilo Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 Such as... Not having to stand in a cowshed that stinks of piss and better quality football. But that's about it. Unfortunately the costs for those two advantages have been very high. Soulless stadia, flat atmospheres and extortionately priced match tickets to name but a few. Plus the fact that you'll never see another Wimbledon rising from nowhere to the Premiership in a Roy of the Rovers style. The fact that you'll never see unfashionable second division clubs coming up and winning the league because of a great manager like the Sheep and Florist did with Clough. I think that's rather sad, given the British way of championing the underdog. The underdog will never be able to win again with football the way it is now.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 I'm determined to enjoy Hereford whatever the result or circumstances, as it will quite possibly be the last time I ever stand on a terrace as a Leicester fan watching a league game at a ground I've never been to before. As good as the terraces have been this season though, I still think I prefer being able to stand at the back of a seated ground - purely for the view. There's something brilliant about a shitty, low-down view from a proper terrace but I don't think I'd want that every week.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 30 March 2009 Posted 30 March 2009 I remember when we used to listen to Cast at games, those were the days. I cancelled my Sky Sports subscription years ago. Take that, Rupert

I think that's more a question of size, though - the back of the away section of the Grange End at Ninian Park is a nice, soon-to-be-flattened example - its not always that flattened as to be a particularly crap view, and the view from converted terraces like Swindon's Stratton Bank and whatever that thing was at Stockport have been fine for me this season.
