LCGraphix Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 As for the players we have on loan the one we need to sign are clearly, Hobbs, Brown, Gilbert and Stockdale As for the positions we need players for 2 New strikers (Beckford, Vassel) 2 New midfielders (Surman, Holland, Gomez-only on loan at swansea) Left Back (Gunter, Bale tottenham are putting these pair on loan) Keeper (Martin, taylor)
consty Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 ...A central midfielder is also vital. Oakley had to play through the pain barrier this season and isn't getting any younger. I would not back Clemence to play professional again at his age.... I was unaware that Oakley has played through injury/pain this season. Is ths widely known? If so it would explain a lot - particularly why he has looked more effective out on the flank rather than in the thick of it in the middle. I suspect Clemence won't be back either.
TrickyTrev Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Clemence is actually six months younger than Oakley. Not sure if Weso will come back from Dundee U. Yeah but Oakley hasn't just had 18 months out with a bad injury.
TrickyTrev Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 it seems interesting that pretty much every name thrown into the hat has been a british based player...don't be too surprised if some eastern european turns up, i imagine the sort of stirker we need, one who can hold up the ball etc, can be found pretty cheap in the eastern blok. Also no one has mentioned Astrit - given the fact that nigel 'no subs' pearson has actually given him time, he looks liekly to stay, he certainly seems to be settled in here - i assume he isn't permanent yet... by all accounts he could be the kind of midfielder who can hold the ball up and spray it around.... For sure. Eastern European economy is in tatters, gonna be some players on cheap. Tunchev has been a huge success, hopefully we can repeat it. I just doubt any Leicester fans feel confident about commenting about some central midfield player from Romanian Premier League player. As for Atsrit. Lets see him get a game between now and the end of the season before we begin to make a judgement. Pretty promising reports though.

Fook it, let's just sign Bogdan Stancu.
Blue Bob Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 We need strength adding all over the park. What fills me with some degree of confidence is that Pearson has made quality signings whether permanent or on loan - Cleverly, Davies, Tunchev, Gilbert, Dyer etc I hope this continues unlike when Allen bought in 14 muppets!!!
FleckneyFox Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 Why would we want Bradley Wright-Phillips? Hes a criminal. I reckon we could get away with signing one Keeper with Cisak as Back up and then bring in a loanee if really needed. We need a right back most likely Gilbert, but theres not much point speculating as i could probably give 20 odd names that we could potentially sign. We need 2/3 midfielders. One quality centre mid to go alongside King and Oakley, And if knowitall is right Wesolowski who i pray can stay fit can cut it in this league. Also people like Berner, Cox and Clemence floating around. We need another 2 wingers as only Gradel and Dyer are the only natural wingers that can cut it in the Championship. 1 on loan and 1 permanent id go for. And finally 2 strikers Another target man and a smaller pacey striker to compete with Howard & Fryatt respectively. Ive just mentioned in another thread that Danny Graham is out of contract in the summer and with Carlisle possibly going down to League 2 we could do alot worse on a free transfer. We dont want to end up with a massive squad so we need to try and get rid of people although some players will be harder to shift than others (Dickov) So players to get rid of are - Henderson, Edworthy, Campbell, N'Gotty, Psssh, Hayles, Worley, Dickov, Verma, Kisnorbo?, Logan. Loan - Adams, Chambers + Reserve teamers. And Keep Chris Powell as a coach!
Cropwellfox Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 Now there's absolutely no doubt about Saints going down, i'd be surprised if we weren't in for Kelvin Davis. Out of contract, Pearson and Hoos know him etc. Would be happy with him as no.1 next season and means we could spend pennies elsewhere i.e. up front

Good goalkeeper and if he comes free then a great signing!
