Sparky Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Soft Touch are probably the best side in the league, Mohammad Asif's brother played for them against us a few seasons ago! I'm back for next Saturday if you're in Sparks? .

Fosse Boy Posted 11 May 2009 Author Posted 11 May 2009 We got soundly thrashed by the University of Brighton 3rds yesterday, although I top scored with twenty five (after having finally been pushed up the order to six), of which approximately 20 were scored with deft nudges through the slip cordon. The bus journey home was awesome, which included a traffic light challenge at the M25/A12 junction involving our entire team.
Sparky Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Im a man short for 6 a side cricket tonight , 8pm start , will cost a fiver and is at sports leagues Freemans common. Standard is not very good Anybody fancy it ??
Fosse Boy Posted 28 June 2009 Author Posted 28 June 2009 I got to open the bowling and the batting against Leicester Markets today. We lost by 80 odd runs, but oh well, at least I had a good game.
Fosse Boy Posted 17 August 2009 Author Posted 17 August 2009 Managed to bowl both my best and worst deliveries of the season in the same spell on Sunday. One came back an absolute mile to take the opener's off peg, then other was a hideous full toss that went for five wides. Guess the two evened each other out. Had yet another catch behind dropped off me though. That's seven in the past four weeks.

Fosse Boy Posted 16 April 2011 Author Posted 16 April 2011 Opening day of the season and the sun's out?!
FoxyPV Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 I'd love to try cricket. Pity it overlaps with the football season. Might try my hand at it if/when we move to England.
SMX11 Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Got a friendly against Leicester Banks today, good weather for it.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 April 2011 Author Posted 16 April 2011 Got a friendly against Leicester Banks today, good weather for it. Who you play for mate?
SMX11 Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Who you play for mate? Broomleys. I played pretty rubbish but we won fairly easily, but I did win the match with a direct hit
Itsthejoeker Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Had my first nets session of the season last week, couldn't move for days! and I didn't even bowl well... Slaughtered when I was batting though
I am Rod Hull Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Does anyone else have that awful Winning Draw / Losing Draw rule?
SMX11 Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Does anyone else have that awful Winning Draw / Losing Draw rule? It's great isn't it, at Broomleys we have had 2 or 3 winning draws against teams that haven't even tried to get our total. It looked like it was going to be another one yesterday but fortunately we got them out in 41st over. It is so frustrating as we would be top of Division 1 if it was a win lose situation. We can't do a lot about it as well as we keep losing the toss and are put into bat every time
Fosse Boy Posted 26 June 2011 Author Posted 26 June 2011 That rule really did used to kill games back when I played Everard's League. Produces such negative, pointless cricket. May as well just shake hands, call it evens and go to the pub.

May as well just shake hands, call it evens and go to the pub. We got 240 odd in our 45 overs and they pretty much struggled to 120-130 all out. One of their lads batted well and got 80 odd not out but they pretty much dead batted it after they lost 3 wickets down.
Fosse Boy Posted 26 June 2011 Author Posted 26 June 2011 What division you in? Reckon they should have a cut off after the top 2/3 divs so anything lower is just straight-up win/lose.

I am Rod Hull Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Really don't like the rule. Was looking like adraw yesterday too, until we finished them off in the 45th over, when they were 80 odd runs behind our total.
wellsy Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 I play for Anstey & Glenfield CC, got promoted last year into Div 1 of the Senior League, not going too well. Were bowled out for 47 in the 2nd week of the season, Not had our strongest team out yet as people can't be bothered anymore. Everyone who plays still enjoying it?
