maddog Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Legendary comments. He's earned a lot more respect from me now.
Thracian Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 The reason i made the point in this thread was because i was happy at what steve said and i just wanted to say that whatever the result be it 1st or 21st (as long as its not relegation) then ill be happy because of recent personal events the realisation that there are more important things around these days and that i dont want people saying things like 'yeah howard may be player of the season but he wont be any good in the championship' I live my football, pal. When the players are working their jockstraps to water, when they're playing their one-two's around the box and peppering the opposition goal with buckshot I can't wait to praise them. But when they go all cautious and non-committal, when their energy levels drop and when they stop moving for each other or trying to make things happen I'm pissed off beyond belief and am damned sure I'll say so. I don't want to not give a shit and I certainly don't one to see the spectre of City 21st in the table cos there's no way that I'd be happy even if you would. Howard starts next season the same as everyone else - with my very best wishes. Pearson is right in that it's clear we have a the sort of team spirit at City now that might well take us places. But that's to be expected after a season when we've collected 92 League points and scored 91 goals. What City have earned as a result is a fiercer challenge and I've no grumbles about the boss showing some belief. The prospects are encouraging. At least we look like a respectable football team again but don't be kidding yourself. There are stacks of things still to improve before we can finally say we've left Division One mediocrity behind us and have the pedigree to challenge at a level higher. In life you're right. There are more important things than football. But I sure don't want to think about them come kick-off for next season's matches. I don't want to sit there with pre-programmed emotions. I don't want to worry about what's more important outside of the game. I want to feel the football and live the action as if I were a part of it and react accordingly. Otherwise I might as well sit and read a book.
Hullfox Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 I live my football, pal. The rest of the post could well have won you the Booker Prize but for some reason I didn't bother reading it, pal.

Fair play, and i agree your entitled to your views especially on this forum and didnt say you cant moan. tbh im a right miserable nob if we lose or generally dont play well, like i said my point was not aimed towards those who are passionate and understand the game like your or me or others who have many many posts but to those who seem to have nothing better to do excpet write comments which ultimately have no worth but to be able to say ' i told you so'! And its not the fact they are making these comments, as i say a forum is for discussion of opinions and views, its the fact that they make out their views are fact and dont care to discuss or consider other views instead to just clutter the place with unwanted negativity. im just trying to make my point, not forcing anything on anyone and i for one also like to forget everything else while at football and just enjoy it. Im just trying to make one small point and i think its come across differently to other people and for some reason become a bigger one, but everybodys different and will react differently but im just hoping said 'downers' read these comments and still feel welcome but think twice as to the real reason they are posting, is it out of willingness to discuss or simply to ridicule? anyway, who says im right? i may think my opinion has valid grounds where others may not. as long as others consider it, they can think what they like!
BoneDog Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 You have anger issues! it was 10 years ago and there were loads of scuffles there. It was par for the course. I'm calm as a cucumber. The only times I ever flip is when I feel 'the sting'. I've been punched in the head loads of times and not reacted. I have reacted though if it hurt and 'the sting' came into play (as anyone does I think)
BoneDog Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Was it Norman and Underwoods? No weren't in Leicester mate. South Derbyshire firm
Flynny Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 Dangerously close to stoking up some serious over-ambition here. It could well take quite a few games for Pearson and the squad to come to terms with the league. I'm quite sure everyone here is prepared to give him time if we struggle early on, but if people are baying for promotion Milan might end up doing something rash and I'd have to cry. At the same time, I'm glad the squad are ambitious and I seriously hope Howard shows that he can still cut it in the CCC and doesn't revert to his form from the end of last season.
