blueblood Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 I understand what people from both sides of the fence are saying about Kis. He was our player of the year not too long ago, and he has had some bad injuries. At the same time we've signed some decent, and one excellent centre-back (Tunch). And Kis is on high wages compared to the rest of the squad. However, and I've spoken to a few city fans about this, I reckon a fully fit Kisnorbo alongside Tunchev would be the best centre-back pairing in the Championship. After all, we got relegated and McAuley and Kisnorbo were the second best centre-back pairing that season. Its' just that we had a ridiculous number of managers, no constincey, and when we thought our saviour Holloway came in, he played people out of position and signed Hungarian waiters and hairdressers. Hobbs is good, no doubt, but it wouldn't be the worst thing if he played second fiddle to Tunch and Kis. And Brown can be regarded as extra cover. As for Morrison, as a centre-back he looked a liability at times, he's made a massive step-up from the conference, and good on the lad, he'll have a good future in the game. But his distribution is non-existent, isn't always tight enough on attackers and could be better overall when we're under pressure. However at Right Back he looks okay, definitely better than Gilbert, who I think, without a shadow of a doubt, is the one bad signing Pearson has made... he's proper crap. So I actually hope we keep Kisnorbo, the hard australian bastard. And get a new right back. Plus Stockdale gets my vote for keeper- his kicking's great, commands his area well, talks to his defenders, confident on crosses and is a very good shot stopper. Plus he said he's love to come back here. Davd Martin has none of the attributes I've just mentioned, he just had an excellent defence in front of him, and for 90% of games he played for LCFC, Aleksander Tunchev in the team.

Have u not been watching kisnorbo?
smudger63 Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 23 points may be conclusive but more often than not it's not the difference between promotion and relegation. Kisnorbo is better in the air and a better tackler than Brown. All Brown has got is that he (apparently) can pass it, although I have seen him play twice and he barely showed this on either occasion.I hate to say this again, just so I can hammer it in to the heads of all the numbskulls out there. Patrick Kisnorbo was our player of the year 2 years ago. Give the guy a fooking break. So far, people have been prepared to write him off as we have Tunchev (mint, granted), Brown (I'm totally unimpressed with what I've seen), Hobbs (raw, plays a lot like Kisnorbo, who could maybe help him develop) and Morrison (a good player, but there's a reason he was in the conference last year - nowhere near as good as PK). Posters on here as so fickle it's embarrassing. Totally embarrassing. Kisnorbo has had a couple of long term injuries and we forget how good he is in favour of people who have only performed at a level below which he showed himself to be an excellent defender. Also, on a lesser note, Hendo was quality at the end of last season, but again has been forgotten as he's been injured and now everyone's saying he's shit. I'm not saying he should be no. 1 but he is an excellent back up keeper. Excellent post, and spot on.
liamherbertlcfc Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 brown seems to be a great leader which is what we havent had in a while funny how we seemed to start conceding alot when kisnorbo was back in the team this year
flanimal Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Kisnorbo was good 2 years ago before he got injured. In the games he played he was pretty average. If he's injury prone, yet commands big wages, it's not a shock that he'd be sold on (or freed on). Remember, defenders that can defend, head, tackle, position well and pass are rare.

For much of the season N'Gotty played alongside them in a back five (sometimes a back six). And many teams playing against us were content to sit on a 1-0 lead knowing it would usually be enough to beat us as our strikeforce was so poor. So the record doesn't tell the full story. But Kisnorbo's presence in the defeats at Brighton, Rotherham and Peterborough suggests he wasn't in the best of form this season. He's part of a bygone, unlamented era. It's best if he moves on.

blueblood Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Oh come on guys, any player who's been out for as long as Kis had would find it difficult to come back at full strength and form straight away, I mean he had a bit of training and one practice match before each of his 2 comebacks this season. Look at Fryatt last season, not much involvement in pre-season, didn't feel wanted, and the majority of you lot on here slated him and said we should get rid. He then has a full pre-season, NP puts his arm round him and he becomes the first player for Leicester to score 20 before christmas. TRUST me, Kisnorbo, fully fit with the bit between his teeth, and assured he has a part to play at this club, is a better defender than both Hobbs and Brown. He's got all the attributes to be an excellent championship centre-back. And what he lacks in pace he makes up for in anticipation, so it doesn't really matter. Thats' why players such Terry, Hyppia and Carragher are top defenders, not the fastest but read the game well. (Sorry for mentioning Kisnorbo in the same paragraph as Terry, Hyppia and Carragher, I rate him but even I know he's not that good!) Hopefully he stays and proves you wrong, and goes on to have a blinding season- then we'll all be happy...

breadandcheese Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 There is no doubt that Kisnorbo is a good championship level defender. He has proved that last season and this season, with his injuries did not do him justice. However, we do not know what his wage levels were, and I imagine he would be asking for a fare waddage for his wage packet. I also think Paddy is more of a second centre-back, in that he does not always take up the best positions and so, despite being a great tackler, needs guidance from a more experienced centre-back. There's no doubt Paddy's a good defender, but we now have our full compliment of players and his wages can be better spent on another position.
