Fox92 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Not a massive loss surely. I mean Kisnorbo was a good player last year/other seasons but as someone said on here before, a good player of a bad bunch. For me, probably get rid, I mean Hobbs/Tunchev/Morrison a better defenders, as well as Brown who we now have. As for Henderson, he can leave.

Hobbs, Tunchev, Morrison and Brown, better defenders than kisnorbo! Possibly, but with the exception of Tunchev, im not so sure myself. We will find out next season, no doubt. One statistic from last season was, our defence, with kisnorbo in it, conceded 45 goals, in a league above where we`ve been playing this season, and amazingly for a relegated team, the second best defence in the division. This season, in a league below, we let in 39 goals, so only 6 goals fewer. Next season will tell us, weather we should have tried to keep hold of kisnorbo or not. I can certainly see why, most people feel we dont need kisnorbo now, though personally i would have rather tried to keep him, and let Brown go back to hull.
Scow Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I can certainly see why, most people feel we dont need kisnorbo now, though personally i would have rather tried to keep him, and let Brown go back to hull. Brown is a better leader and organiser. He's also won promotion from the Championship too. I don't think Kisnorbo has ever been higher than 15th.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Getting rid of Kisnorbo is barmy, solid centre half who scores goals. The only centre half we have who I would say is unquestionable better than him is Tunchev, he will be missed. Then again I don't know what damage his last injury has done to him physically and mentally. Henderson is shit, no loss.
renards Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Kisnorbo is in Oz at the moment According to Birch at a Q and A last night we have signed a keeper from Bristol, can't remember which of the pair..may have already been mentioned
flanimal Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Kisnorbo is in Oz at the moment I think since Harold left Neighbours, Kisnorbo is going to audition. I heard this from a very reliable source.
JoeyB Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 one player doesnt make a defence Unless its Vidic or Terry in which case they would own League 1
JoeyB Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Kisnorbo is in Oz at the momentAccording to Birch at a Q and A last night we have signed a keeper from Bristol, can't remember which of the pair..may have already been mentioned Rovers - Steve Phillips & Mike Green - Hope not. City - Adriano Basso, Chris Weale, Stephen Henderson. Basso is the only one i would take from the lot, but i don't think we will get him somehow.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Brown is a better leader and organiser. He's also won promotion from the Championship too.I don't think Kisnorbo has ever been higher than 15th. The point about Wayne Brown is made totally redundant by five words: Djimi Traore Champions League Winner. As for Kisnorbo, I agree with Manwell Pablo. Tunchev is the only centre back at the club who is unquestionably better than him (although Hobbs is improving). The guy was decent for us in the championship before. Fine, we got relegated with him in the side, but we also got relegated with Stearman in the side, the same Stearman who has just won the league with Wolves.
Scow Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 The point about Wayne Brown is made totally redundant by five words: Djimi Traore Champions League Winner. One was a first team player integral to a team's success; the other a perennial squad player.
flanimal Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 One was a first team player integral to a team's success; the other a perennial squad player. I know - Brown is good ain't he.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 One was a first team player integral to a team's success; the other a perennial squad player. Traore started 9 Champions League games that season. Also, I've said it before. Hull were better than us the season they went up and we went down, but not that much better. Over a 46 game season, they got 23 more points and conceded more goals. If you want a comparison, 23 points separated us from S****horpe this season. That's six places. We finished 18 places behind Hull. The table doesn't lie...much
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 I prefer hendo to what i BELieve to be the current shit

I think 23 points is pretty conclusive, irrespective of league positions. Yes, we only conceded 45 goals, but that had a direct impact on our ability to score goals. I can't remember any team getting relegated with conceding less than a goal a game on average. I implicity trust Pearson (for now) after the way he's conducted himself in the transfer market. I can see why he believes Brown is the better option for the reasons I stated above. Don't understimate how a strong leader can affect those around him. While Kisnorbo has done a good job for us and proved a good source of goals from set-pieces, he was a regular in a losing Championship team. Combine that with him incurring several injuries during his time here, along with his probable high wage demands, I'm not too sad to see him go.
djedmundo Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 If Hendo couldn't break into the first team when his competition was fairly unknown, young, inexperienced goalkeepers just shows how crap he is! As for Kisnorbo im still split by the decision...ok he was good last season but after most of this season injured there could be another clemence situation? <_<
Salieri Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 I prefer hendo to what i BELieve to be the current shit I'd take any of the GK loanees we had this season over him. (yes, even Warner!)

OzFox Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 If this recent article from the Aussie press is to be believed, Kisnorbo is pulling in about 5 grand a week at Leicester. Overseas megabucks strangling A-League's chance to keep major players The big money on offer in European soccer has highlighted the awful struggle the A-League faces to retain home-grown talent. FFA chief executive Ben Buckley, who this week spoke about expansion and the future of the A-League, will no doubt choke on his coffee this morning when he learns about the unbelievable amounts of cash being paid to Aussie players - both the household names and unknowns - on the other side of the globe. BRW's rich list of sporting stars has again been dominated by the round-ball game, with Harry Kewell topping the list at $11million with Turkish giants Galatasaray. West Ham skipper Lucas Neill raked in $7.7million, closely followed by Newcastle striker Mark Viduka ($7.1million), while Everton pin-up Tim Cahill ($4.9million) and Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer ($4.1million) also did well in the Barclays Premier League. Celtic striker Scott McDonald ($1.33million) is a hero in Glasgow while Patrick Kisnorbo, captain of Leicester City in England's third-tier League One, pocketed about $500,000 - nearly a quarter of an A-League club's salary cap. and this was written back in March... After finally elbowing his way back into first team reckoning with a recall off the bench earlier this month, Kisnorbo – who turns 28 today - isn’t just playing for his Socceroos future, he’s also seeking to seal his club future as he nears the end of his contract at The Walkers Stadium. He has been a case study in consistency under a succession of managers in nearly five years at the club but acknowledges his destiny could lie elsewhere. "It’s come at a difficult time. I don’t know if I’ll stay or go. I could have gone out on loan but the club wanted me to stay, so who knows what will happen," he conceded But whatever happens, he is staying positive. "I’m not dwelling on any ifs or butts. That would drive me mad. I’m just concentrating on playing as many games as I can between now and the end of the season and hopefully the rest will take care of itself."

Kisnorbo is better in the air and a better tackler than Brown. All Brown has got is that he (apparently) can pass it, although I have seen him play twice and he barely showed this on either occasion. I hate to say this again, just so I can hammer it in to the heads of all the numbskulls out there. Patrick Kisnorbo was our player of the year 2 years ago. Give the guy a fooking break. So far, people have been prepared to write him off as we have Tunchev (mint, granted), Brown (I'm totally unimpressed with what I've seen), Hobbs (raw, plays a lot like Kisnorbo, who could maybe help him develop) and Morrison (a good player, but there's a reason he was in the conference last year - nowhere near as good as PK). Posters on here as so fickle it's embarrassing. Totally embarrassing. Kisnorbo has had a couple of long term injuries and we forget how good he is in favour of people who have only performed at a level below which he showed himself to be an excellent defender. Also, on a lesser note, Hendo was quality at the end of last season, but again has been forgotten as he's been injured and now everyone's saying he's shit. I'm not saying he should be no. 1 but he is an excellent back up keeper.
Koke Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Basically he's been a good solid servant for us and has always been lethal from set pieces. I don't want to go into his short comings as it's well documented on here - I'm not overly bothered if he goes to be honest. I will always appreciate the amount of times he popped up with a goal when our strikers couldn't score for love nor money and when he saved our arses by putting his body on the line for us. But he is on a lot of money and we have adequate replacement for him, so we don't really need him.

Anyway who says he's shit is fickle, because nobody said that last year.

I've not said Kisnorbo is/was shit, though I'm sure you weren't inferring that. Some people do have short memories when it comes to Kisnorbo; I for one thought he was mostly solid for us, but, as I say, he's suffered a couple of serious injuries and he's not proved himself anything other than a struggling Championship defender. I know for a fact that Kisnorbo, along with Fryatt (before his new contract) were the highest wage earners at the club. Granted, it's not a surprise, but we're not in a position to offer a contract near his previous one based on a few largely unsuccessful appearances this season.
