StanSP Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 I bet she still thinks she's done nothing wrong. Main excuse is that they were told to hand out such orders by higher authorities. I remember studying the My Lai massacre this year at school. One person's answer to everything is that they themselves faced punishment (sometimes death) if they didn't comply with their higher ranks.

It's the fact she isn't apologetic that suggests to me that she wasn't just following orders.

Guest Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jan/0...gland-interview I don't feel one shred of sympathy. In fact, I feel just the opposite - "But what happens in war, happens. It just happened to be photographed and come out". No love, it's still wrong.
StanSP Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 It's like some of these people lost the feeling of empathy when they were doing this.
Shrenchel Posted 9 June 2009 Author Posted 9 June 2009 The only thing she seems sorry for is being stupid enough to be caught on camera doing those things.

Jordan Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Main excuse is that they were told to hand out such orders by higher authorities. I remember studying the My Lai massacre this year at school. One person's answer to everything is that they themselves faced punishment (sometimes death) if they didn't comply with their higher ranks. The problem is, though, that those that ordered such disgusting acts are much more likely to be spared punishment even though they're just as guilty (or more so) than the troops that carried out the acts. My Lai is sort of an example of this, as there was a lot of resistance to the investigation of that massacre. Lynndie England has been disgraced and served her sentence--whither Donald Rumsfeld?
