David Guiza Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 Did anyone see this documentary the other night? I think it was Sunday night on Sky three. It was bascily about an Italian man called Alexander Zarelli who forged italian FA documents and faxed them onto clubs in Britain in order to join them. Many small clubs who wanted a star Italian playing for them were taken in such as Bangor and Aberiswyth bought what he was saying/doing and looked after him with accomodation, food etc as well as offering him a wage. He basically lied through his teeth that he'd played for Rangers and was currently under contract at Sheffield Wednesday however on loan at MK Dons The Sky journo's asked Wednesday about this and they had never heard of him. And therefore they set up a fake interview where he would sign a contract for the football agent. Zarelli went along with it untill they finally disided to rumble him and force him to appologise. Obviously he ran off and called the women the next day calling her many things . Just thought i'd bring it up as i was i suprised how easily he did this and what extent it could cause and Bagnor almost became bust from his scam.
dandannieldanok Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 I've seen it before, I know I shouldn't have found it funny but I did.
David Guiza Posted 7 July 2009 Author Posted 7 July 2009 I've seen it before, I know I shouldn't have found it funny but I did. The participants who were from Bagnor i think it was did look like and sound like village idiots /
Ultra Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 Not as funny as the Ali Dia scam though.. See Matt Le Tissier tell the tale here..
David Guiza Posted 7 July 2009 Author Posted 7 July 2009 Not as funny as the Ali Dia scam though..See Matt Le Tissier tell the tale here.. Quality I'd imagine thats what many of our players have thought when players like Junior Lewis turned up .
Guest Bilo Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 Not as funny as the Ali Dia scam though..See Matt Le Tissier tell the tale here.. To be fair, if this fella had tried this scam on with clubs that could afford to take the financial hit, it would have been funny. The fact that he chose to scam small, non-league sides who couldn't removes the humour for me.
General Smuts Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 I peeped some of this and thought it was really interesting up until the point of them tracking him down. Couldn;t be arsed to squirm through anymore after that. They did mention Ali Dia as well.
Filbert_Ross Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 i thought the whole Sky Program looked a fake to be honest, the way this 'fake' player sat their and answered nearly all the questions the undercover man through at him when he confronted him.
