haraven Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Source: http://www.oregonlive.com/idahosportugal/i..._for_drink.html The next time you want complain about the price of a pint at your local watering hole, remember that at least it didn't cost you an entire week's pay. The British web site Click Lancashire is reporting that Scottish national and Burnley FC forward Steven Thompson has been fined a week's pay for imbibing alcohol during Burnley's exhibition game against the Portland Timers at PGE Park on July 25. Thompson, who scored 12 goals in 25 league appearances for the Clarets last season, was on hand to score the second goal for the Turf Moor side in their 2-2 draw with Portland Timbers. After chasing a stray ball, the Scot failed to slow himself down and went tumbling over a banner and ended up next to an unsuspecting fan watching the game. "I kind of fell over the billboards at the side of the pitch and there was a cafe right on the side," said the 30-year-old. "I landed on this person's table and I don't know what happened, I just instinctively grabbed this guy's pint and had a drink." Could be an option for us up front if we got a bar located right behind the oppositions goal.
Uncle Ben Posted 1 August 2009 Posted 1 August 2009 Better yet, a Maryland chicken/pigeon in the kop for next season. Let's do it. Every drunkard's 'instinct' is to never turn down a bit of third world chicken.
Bridge Posted 2 August 2009 Posted 2 August 2009 Hopefully he managed to quaff a nice Widmer IPA at the beer garden.(field level, so that's where it happened)http://www.its-pub-night.com/2009/05/beer-at-pge-park.html Opposing players and dullard officials are occasionally targets for frustrated (and often drunk) Timber fans. Thankfully they throw shit lager instead of Widmers' brew.
