Fox You Forest Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 The defence encroached as well so what would that be? A right mess.
leftsideoverhere Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 We had to hang around a bit after the game 'cos of waiting to be picked up. While we were waiting we chatted to a couple of the players as they came out. I made a point of complimenting Wayne Brown on his attacking prowess, and said he'd really seemed to enjoy getting forward in the second half. Without missing a beat he said, "yeah, but I didn't enjoy running back again afterwards". It was one of the key points of the game, though, I thought, that we did attack from the back much more effectively than we had done on Saturday - a lot less passing back to Weale, and a lot more determination to run the ball forwards with some pace. I don't think this was due to the change of full-backs, so I guess it must have been more of a deliberate tactical decision by NP. If that's so, then long may it continue, as it made us a much better side.
Head Honcho Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Great foresight by Gallagher for the penalty but somehow can't see him getting away with it everytime we miss a penalty. I wonder if he's done that sort of thing before because he sure looked like he knew what he was doing!

Any striker does it and I think you learn it from a young age. I was always told to do it when playing sunday league...not as much as to say go and encroach that much but just to be the first one there if we miss!
DB11 Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 The defence encroached as well so what would that be? Would have been an indirect free kick, not a retake. The penalty is retaken if: Penalty scored and attack encroach Penalty missed and defence encroach Regardless of outcome, both attack and defence encroach An IDFK is given if: Penalty is missed and attack encroach Fryatt missed the penalty and Gallagher encroached. It would have been an IDFK if the ref had penalised Gallagher. I didn't say they didn't encroach, but if the referee just penalised Gallagher
