robhulse4england Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 what was behind the release of Walker? surely not his form he his absoloutely phonomenal. maybe money is an issue but surely he would have accepted lower terms if needed!!
Stuliasz Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Yeh he did say he would have accepted lower terms, but I'd imagine Levein felt he could get in another player as good as Walks but on lower wages and then he could get in another player as well with those wages. Listening to what he has said, I bet that was his thought process.

He was paid a ridiculous amount of wages for a Championship keeper. His agent most probably also alerted him of the Brum/Tottenham rumours...
Chimp Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 CL cited the reasons as financial... I'm sure if Walker had accepted what was put on the table then CL would have been very happy to retain him.
Teeno Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Walker would of had to have had a wage cut by almost 3/4 to stay which is alot to ask someone. Levein has a policy that he likes his players to live within 25 miles of the club and Walkers lives in Londao so maybe that has something to do with it?
Shum Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Yep, CL said that players who would now sign for the club, would be signed up on 2-3 year deals and be asked to move in or around Leicestershire to give them a connection with the city of Leicester and the people of Leicester.
