Rams chief executive Glick dismisses talk of "crisis"

Comment on this story

DERBY County have dismissed a national newspaper report which today claimed that the club was in "crisis".

The report in the Daily Mirror suggested that the Rams had to raise £8m by the end of this month and that the club was up for sale, priced at £30m.

But the club say that the story is "categorically untrue".

Rams president and chief executive Tom Glick said: "The story in question is categorically untrue and inaccurate. There is a whole series of false statements.

"No, we are not in financial crisis. We are on a very sound footing and that is at a time when football clubs up and down the country are in financial crisis."

The club have contacted the Daily Mirror for a retraction and will follow the call with a solicitor's letter to the newspaper.

See tomorrow's Derby Telegraph for the full story.

Their bound to dismiss it as it would de value their whole squad.

I see Giles Barnes has been recently released by Derby, apparently training with West Brom. If he could stay fit he would be a decent signing.

He can't. That's why he was released.

I thought it was because he was one of the highest earners hence why he's been on loan at Fulham :dunno:

Plus if he's currently training at West Brom then he obviously is looking to get back to full fitness.

For the record...

HA HA HA :D

Who are these guys? Some of them have some experience in front offices of NBA teams, but besides that, these guys have no team ownership pedigree (and probably not a lot of money relative to lots of other owners). GSE's big acquisition before Derby? A single-A minor league baseball team (which, if baseball's structure were similar to the football league system, would be like half-League Two team, half-reserve team)!

Derby were saying that their new owners had experience in sports--I don't know who the f*** these guys are and I've had to use Google to try and find out.

They're going bust in one season!

This post was followed up by a few Derby fans poking fun at my bust-in-one-season prediction. Looks like I was wrong--it'll have taken them two seasons instead.
