Heard that Vaughan and Anichebe might be looking to get sold from Everton.

Everton could look to buy a better striker than what they have now depending on what money they receive.

Apparently Newcastle have enquired about Vaughan and Anichebe.

It's obvious he's got talent (and pace), shame he hasn't shown it so far, with the exception of yesterday, when he took his goal well. Pissed me right off at Peterborough though when he took far too long to get back on-side after an attack broke down. Not really bothered about him not getting back, he's there to be up front. Not sure whether I'd go with him and Waggy up front for the next couple of games, think Waghorn-Gallagher (with N'Guessan on the right) might serve us better. Difficult one though...

I dont think Gallagher has the paceto lead the line , heis doing fine where he is , very skillful player . He could do a job just behind the front two . As for N'guessen the man blowshot and cold , has one superb match then completely disappears in the next . Would rather have Dyer on the left than N'guessen on the right at least Dyer is a little more consistent

Unless the below true.

Vaughan is already an established member of Stuart Pearce's squad.

He has struggled for fitness since joining City, but clearly has the talent, poise and pace to score important goals.

A source at Everton told me: "David Moyes has absolutely no desire to sell Vaughan, who has always been billed as a bit of a successor to Wayne Rooney".

It's not a particularly helpful comparison, but it tells you what an excellent coup the exciting striker is for Leicester.

James Vaughan will be given the task of spearheading Leicester City's play-off push after the club decided not to contest Steve Howard's red card against Watford.

Striker Howard was in a rich vein of form having scored three goals in his previous four games.

But he is suspended for the next three games, including the first leg of the play-off semi-final if City finish in the top six, after being shown a straight red card in first-half stoppage time on Saturday.

Manager Nigel Pearson initially said he would review Howard's incident before deciding whether to appeal against the red card, but City ruled out a challenge yesterday.

Appeals are rarely upheld except in cases of mistaken identity, and it was viewed that the fact that Howard's tackle on Ross Jenkins could be viewed as rash would not help his cause.

"We are disappointed with the red card," said assistant manager Craig Shakespeare. "Sometimes it can be seen as a red or a yellow, and we will miss Steve because he has been doing so well.

"But we won't appeal. Appeals are very rarely overturned so it will be a case of take your punishment and move on."

With Matty Fryatt still not quite ready to make a comeback and Howard suspended, on-loan Everton striker Vaughan is likely to be handed his first start for City in the vital clash with Preston on Saturday.

A victory at Deepdale would clinch City's place in the play-offs, regardless of results elsewhere.

Shakespeare said Vaughan, who has only been used as a substitute so far but scored his first goal for the club in the 4-1 win over Watford, was hitting form at the right time.

"I was really pleased for James," said Shakespeare.

"He has had a nightmare with injury and has had more operations at such a tender age than most players have in a whole career.

"It has been stop-start for him at Leicester but you could see the relief on his face when he scored the goal.

"His overall game was one of energy and he never gave the defenders a minute's peace.

"He looked a threat and the timing couldn't be any better with Steve out to have someone like James with Premier League quality coming in."

City have an injury concern over influential midfielder Richie Wellens.

The 30-year-old was replaced in the second half after complaining of a tight hamstring and will be assessed this week, but Shakespeare is confident Wellens will be fit to face Preston.

"He is the kind of player that never misses a training session and never misses a game," said Shakespeare.

"He is always available and I fully expect him to be available for Preston.

"We said he had a tight hamstring at half-time but we felt we could get him to 60 minutes without any damage and then took him off as a precaution.

"You can see what he brings to us and his understanding of the game is terrific. His experience is invaluable."

Very good yesterday, shame we don't have a chance of signing him. Same applys to Spearing.

Yeah no chance at all....

Ginnetta also believes that Vaughan, on loan from Everton, may become a permanent target for City in the summer.

"I wouldn't rule out him coming back. I'm told his contract is up in the summer and that Everton have issued a list of youngsters they want to keep, and Vaughan is not on it."

This seems promising, I was actually just thinking today Vaughan may be worth a punt but given his injuries I wouldn't want us to pay alot of money for him and then I went on Mercury website and read this. Hopefully he can impress in the next couple of league games and then a player of

Vaughans pedigree on a free would be a cracking deal.

From the Merc.

James Vaughan would love to return to Leicester City next season if Everton decide to loan him out again.

The 21-year-old has a contract with the Toffees until the summer of 2011, but said if Everton manager David Moyes decided he would benefit from another loan, he would definitely consider a return to City.

Vaughan, who could make his first start for City today at Preston as a replacement for the suspended Steve Howard, said he has enjoyed his stay at City and would love to cap it with an appearance at Wembley in the play-off final.

Vaughan, who scored his first goal for City last week in the 4-1 win over Watford, said: "I am contracted to Everton and I will go back at the end of the season. But if the gaffer decides he wants me to go out on loan again, then that is fine. If not, I will fight for my place at Everton.

"I have really enjoyed my time here and if the gaffer wanted me to go out on loan again then I would love to come back here.

"I am really enjoying it. The lads have made me feel very welcome and that has made it so much easier to settle in."

Birmingham-born Vaughan was spotted by Everton while playing as a boy in Preston, and the Lillywhites also tried to sign him.

He said: "It is ironic that I am facing Preston, and a few of my dad's friends will be there.

"It would mean everything to get into the play-offs. It is a big club and I would love to help out. It would be great for the club and the supporters, and it would be a very enjoyable experience."

Walked past Vaughan in the street in the middle of Sydney last weekend....bit hard to miss in an Everton tracksuit.

Would think he's desperate to get another loan deal to Leicester. Anything to avoid wearing that pink shirt...

Did he say anything which gave you that impression?

According to an Everton mate of mine, Vaughan is 90% likely to be going out on loan again this season.

EDIT: Or if Hull have their way, Tom Cairney in a swap for £2.5m plus Vaughan.

No, but he sure looks desperate in that picture.

Talk about keeping your eye on the ball
