Irish to boycott New York Red Bulls

IRISH football fans in New York are being urged to boycott the city’s Red Bulls team after it signed French ace Thierry Henry.

Many cannot forgive Henry, 32, for his handball in the run-up to the goal that knocked Ireland out of the World Cup.

Columnist Sean O’Shea called Henry “Le Cheat” and said: “Irish Americans have long memories.

Any football club under the Red Bull banner should be boycotted in my opinion. Just like these chaps did.

Yep they're a franchise. They were the New York Metrostars beforehand.

It's OK--if they sign Rafael Marquez as rumored, then American fans will boycott the team, too!

This is just plain stupid now. All this stuff reminds me of the ol' joke about Irish Alzheimer's disease--you forget everything except the grudge.

The terrible news is they've just taken over a german club

They tried to take over both main clubs from Leipzig but got rejected by both so took a completely low non-league club and have re-named it RB Leipzig (Can't be called Red Bull). They won promotion in their first season and have this season already signed bundesliga players. I would expect them in the top flight within 5 years.

fook Red Bull.

Nice debut: Henry's just given RBNY a 1-0 lead in the first half against Spurs after Joel Lindpere made Alan Hutton look foolish.

Oh, and I don't particularly like my team's shirts having a giant Red Bull logo plastered all over them (there are still lots of us that call the team "Metro"), but despite the team completely giving up on last season, life under our Austrian overlords is somewhere between 80 and 90 trillion times better than it was in under the team's first two ownership groups.
