CKB Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 Is quite surprised Morrison hasn't been used at RB at all.. Sousa obviously doesn't think he's up to it there and last season may prove him wrong, i still personally see Morrison as a CB but i'd have Morrison over Neilson at RB anyday of the week!
Bettsj2 Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 Not Portugese enough??? Have I missed something? Apart from Moreno, how many other Portugese are in the team?? Anyway, Moz is a decent young defender and in the long run he and Hobbs would be a good shout. At the minute though, having 2 young relatively inexperienced centre backs isn't the best idea. Moreno is a defensive midfielder and not a centre back so the solution is we need to purchase. As much as I hate to admit it, we have missed Wayne Brown. No passing ability whatsoever but if he and Hobbs were at the centre of defence there's no way we would have conceded so many goals.

We were very loose at the back against Palace, the whole back 4 made mistakes but Morrison seems to be the one carrying the can... Still think the obvious answer, short term at least, is Morrison and Hobbs at the back with Moreno and King providing the shield in front of them.

Given the personel we have available at the minute that's a good plan. I really wish he'd just get on with dropping Nielson and playing Lamey from the start so the defence can get used to how each other play and start communicating a bit better. There are rumours about Sean St Ledger which would be an excellent signing but as with most rumours involving good signings, we wont sign him.
leftsideoverhere Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 Unfortunately, Sousa has judged him on his performance against Palace and has dropped him to give his Portuguese buddy a chance. Oh dear. Why let reality get in the way of a good whinge, eh? Sousa has actually been quite restrained about introducing his signings into the side, witness the fact that Leon Crncic hasn't had a start, Neilson is keeping Lamey out the starting eleven, Moreno is being played out of his preferred position, and so on. Moreno looked class on the ball during the first round Carling Cup game, and he's got significantly more experience of higher standard football than Morrison, so it's understandable that Morrison is warming the bench at the moment. If he continues to improve he will get his chance again. The season is too long to get through it by just picking your best eleven and playing them in every game. That's a recipe for falling away from the pace when things really heat up next March or April. I'd rather have a few good players not getting picked than having eleven who play every week regardless of their form or fitness, and I expect Morro will be happy enough fighting for a start rather than giving up and shipping out to a league one side.
bigneville Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 His touch can let him down a bit aswell but overall hes a good player and deserves to be in the side as he will continue to develop if plays regularily. I too think he is a good player, and would happily have him be involved in the squad as a centre back. However, with PS, any player who isn't more than comfortable on the ball and has the ability to play football on the floor is going to struggle to hold down a place. This being the problem for Morrison. Ask him just to defend, and he is more than capable at this level, but PS demands more from his defenders, and hence why he isn't starting games currently. PS would rather player someone who can play football like Moreno rather than a debatablly stronger defender in Morrison. Something we are going to have to consider when making any team predictions.
h1210 Posted 24 August 2010 Posted 24 August 2010 I know this is a "my Nan's best friend saw him at tesco's" kind of link but someone at work saw him in town at the weekend smashed out his face with some mates up from Cambridge. Apparently he reckons there's unrest on the squad (which I guess is fairly obvious after Saturday) and Morrison and some others were particularly upset that Pearson had gone.

If true he needs to pull his finger out, get on with it and remember where he came from and the opportunity that he has.
adam3000 Posted 25 August 2010 Posted 25 August 2010 no he has not, there just not playing him much i think they soud
