Jimmy Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Is he injured or has he just been dropped? unused sub
Stadt Posted 21 August 2010 Author Posted 21 August 2010 As he's been dropped hes not going to be happy and he might want leave and IMO hes one of our best players hes young, fairly quick and good in the air.He also scores a few goals and i'd hate to see him leave. He had a few bad games but as a manger you need to stick with your players.
Narborough_fox Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Dropped, deserves a second chance so we can put Moreno into the middle to beef up the midfield.
Hitesh Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Being on the bench should give him the motivation to get back in the side. I can see him starting against Leeds on Tuesday.
broughtonblue Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 I think given a bit of time to work together him and Hobbs could be an awesome partnership. Hope he is in the managers plans still

Narborough_fox Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 You have spoken a lot of sense today - i am surprised! It's the Florida sun. Works wonders, ship a few more over here.
Stadt Posted 21 August 2010 Author Posted 21 August 2010 It's the Florida sun. Works wonders, ship a few more over here. Who's paying the expenses?
Karljohn Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 On today's performance Moreno should be bench warming for a bit and Morro should walk back into the side.
Joe. Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 I'd start him against Leeds alongside Hobbs, but chopping and changing at the back too much isn't going to help things if it's done too much. Moreno doesn't look a long-term solution there though, I'll admit. Whilst he seems competent in possession, in the air he worries me a lot and that will be exposed on numerous occassions this season if he continues to play there. In time I think we'll see the Hobbs Morrison partnership here to stay.
Guest ttfn Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Not Portugese enough for Paulo. In fairness why bother with English players when you have mediocre Portugese mercenaries
bigneville Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Morrison's problem in this new management, is that he just isn't good enough with the ball at his feet. Souza only wants footballing defenders. Morrison is an old-school style stopped, and that just isn't going to cut it with Souza in charge. I would expect he will spend most of the season on the bench, only getting pitch time to cover injuries.
Guest ttfn Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Yeah but we're playing a passing style. Don't be such a neanderthal
Corky Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 I hope Morrison is back in the side soon. He had a poor opening match but for two years, generally, he's been excellent. Him and Hobbs can be a very firm partnership.
Stadt Posted 22 August 2010 Author Posted 22 August 2010 The advantages of playing Hobbs and Morrison: -The communication -They know each other -They know how each other play -Better in the air(as Moreno doesn't like to stick his head in) Disadvantages: -Morrison technically is worse -Worse passer of the ball -Not Portugese But with Morrison playing at CB it allows Moreno to To defensive mid IMO where he's better suited.
HonradaRaposa Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 He was awful in pre-season and at fault for 2 of the Palace goals with non-league defending. I like him, but he is another League One star.
Father Ted Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 People saying that Morrison can't pass a ball is ridiculous. His technical abilities are fantastic. I've seen him over the past 2 seasons pick out some absolutely fantastic long passes. Does anybody remember his long range effort at home to Sheffield United last season that Steve Claridge was raving about on the FL show? That's no excuse. He played so succesfully last season as a right-back because he has the ability to go forward and is confident with the ball at his feet. He also wins more headers than Moreno and is always a constant threat at set-pieces. Unfortunately, Sousa has judged him on his performance against Palace and has dropped him to give his Portuguese buddy a chance.
Narborough_fox Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 I remember that Sheff United shot, I thought it was in.

I do believe we scored from the resulting corner also. However, on the point of his technical abilities, I disagree. I felt on several occasions that he took a lot of momentum out of attacking moves with his nervousness on the ball, and his inability to find another player in the attacking third. In my opinion, he's a good stopper, and a good defender. But football is a weak point of his game. Hence why he's been dropped out of the team as soon as one of PS's footballing defenders is available. There's a reason why NP adopted Nolberto Solano at right back towards the end of last season on a regular basis ahead of Morrison, and this is because of his distribution from defence.

His touch can let him down a bit aswell but overall hes a good player and deserves to be in the side as he will continue to develop if plays regularily.
Callabinho Posted 23 August 2010 Posted 23 August 2010 I think he is a great player! And in time he will be as good Hobbs, seems to be able to hold a decent interview too!
