WHY SVEN?

I cannot quite believe that any Leicester fan thinks this is a bad appointment.

We have continuously moaned over the years about the lack of ambition at the club and yet here we are with new investors looking to appoint the most succesful England manager in recent history, a manager that Chelsea couldnt prise away from the FA, a man who showed a huge amount of integrity at Notts County by not only working for free for 6 months but also didn't pursue the settlement of his £2.5m contract as he didnt want to see the club go under, who Man City fans screamed blue murder when dismissed and yet there are still people moaning??

He likes a challenge. He's got more than one style of play. He has contacts around the world with regards to player transfers and his coaching techniques are second to none.

The last two times we appointed a manager were before the League 1 Season where the shortlist were Nigel Pearson, John Gregory and Nigel Worthington, last time they were Sousa, Ian Dowie and Chris Coleman.

I think that post is a joke, Sven is a well respected Coach with more honours than our club's whole history, he's a tactician that got a lot out of an England side many others have failed with, he has a massive amount of respect in the football world and his interview on Sky today was a breath of fresh air! Good appointment, abit of ambition from our new owners can be underestimated given circumstances that have gone by previously, such as the Sousa disaster and losing a talented manager at the end of last season!

So you started a thread questioning his employment because of his past record without knowing what his past record was?

Surely the fact he was England manager for very long period of time (meaning he must have had a great record prior to that), and arguably the most successful we've had for decades means he's more than qualified to take over a bottom of the league Championship side.

If he was a money grabbing git he would have taken Notts County to Court over his 6 months unpaid wages and settlement for the remainder of his contract and he also wouldn't have entertained the thought of managing Leicester as the Saudi contract he was offered is reportedly £3m a year plus he would get to live in the lap of luxury in Saudi rather than Melton Mowbray.

The reason he didnt do either of these things is because he isn't a money grabbing git. He's a talented coach/manager who over his career has built up a reputation by winning trophies and now he is in a more than comfortable financial position, he chooses roles based on the challenge they present.

The reason he commands high salaries is down to the fact that his CV includes several trophies and also a succesful international management record.

The 'joke' that you refer to is the constant stream of bullshit coming from small minded, unambitious and deluded Leicester fans who think that every british manager plucked from the lower leagues are going to turn into the next Martin O'Neill and guide us to the top 10 of the premier and into Europe.

That just isnt the case. When O'Neill left, what we needed was an experienced manager like Sven but what we got was a hungry English manager from the lower leagues looking to prove himself which is what the fans seem to be calling for now.

Can anyone remember his name?? Because I fooking can.

Please people, have a bit of god damn ambition about you and recognise that our new owners want us to be playing with the big boys.

And one other thing, many are making the comment that this is just a PR exercise and seem to insinuate that Sven will just be getting paid to have his photo taken and sit in his office smoking cigars?? He's here to run the team and get us promoted!! And what the hell is the problem with having a good global image? What the hell is the problem with kids in Thailand wearing a Leicester shirt?

There is one reason that I can think of that's blaringly obvious. I'd like to discuss it face to face with those who hold this ridiculous opinion but my only free day over the next couple of weeks is this coming Saturday, but i've got a feeling those with this certain opinion will be busy in the City Centre on that particular day.

Some of the comments over the last couple of days have made me ashamed to be a Leicester fan and it's these comments that will make us the laughing stock of the league not the appointment of Sven.

As a footnote I add that BBC Radio Leicester have been an absolute disgrace over the appointment of Sven. After 5 failed attempts to show my support on the post match phone in, I quickly rounded up 15 of my friends and gave them the remit of calling Radio Leicester to view the opinion that Sven is a good appointment and to show support. They all got through to the producer who asked what they would like to say, they all said they wanted to pledge their support for Sven but somehow none of us were called back. Instead good old Coalville Dave got to have his say and some berk who seemed to be suggesting that managing in the Championship is much harder than managing England.

Up the City.

Its fair for someone to ask "WHY SVEN". However I would proably think that the person asking why has got his answer and more than likely he now see's the sence in his appointment. A manager that has wone a double with Lazio will probably not come to Leicester. NO OFFENCE to your club at all, your club has great history.

And of course, Gary Liniker who I promise will praise the appointment of Sven. Liniker has always been a defender of Sven since he left England in 2006 saying that he was a very good coach for us.
