YOUTHS OUT-FOXED AT FAILAND

Posted on: Sat 13 Nov 2010

City Under-18s suffered a second half collapse as FA Premier League leaders Leicester City ran out 6-2 winners at Failand.

The two sides traded goals in the first 45, with Aaron Holloway converting Giani Kapika's tenth minute cross to cancel out Leicester's early opener.

The Foxes went in front again on 15 minutes, only for City to hit back once more on the half hour with Scott Wilson lobbing the keeper from 20 yards.

Wilson had a superb chance to make it 3-2 after half-time but couldn't convert a one-on-one chance.

And to compound matters Leicester went straight down the other end, capitalised on a defensive mistake and went ahead for a third time.

Three further goals followed as Leicester showed their top-of-the-table class, inflicting City's biggest defeat of the season to date.

Academy boss John Clayton said: "It's a disappointing result. We had chances and in truth it could have finished 12-8 to them!

"Unfortunately we let ourselves down with a string of defensive errors."

City Under-18s: Carey; Muggeridge, Douglas, Z.Andrews, Rigg (Palmer 65); Reid (T.Andrews 65), Bryan (Scott 65), Kapika; Lennox, Holloway, wilson.

anyone know what our side was?

OS, probably some time on Tuesday.

The team was

Smith

Sesay Knight Bolger Taft

John Moore Jones Norburn

Schlupp Hopper

Subs used were

Robinson for Sesay

Dodoo for John

Brown for Taft

The goals were scored by Schlupp 2 Hopper 2 Robinson and Dodoo

Leicester started really well and should have scored about a minute in from a shot form Norburn but their keeper saved well

Liam Moore hit a good shot which the keeper spilled with Jeff Schlupp following up to score. The Bristol number 9 equalised with a good header before Shlupp scored another. A defensive mix up meant one of the Bristol players managed to lob Smith

Half time score 2-2

The 2nd half started well with a good goal from Tom Hopper after good work down the left. A sweetly taken goal and shot form the edge of the area from Matt Robinson meant the game was over as the score became 4-2 to Leicester. Two more goals were added by Tom Hopper and the impressive Joe Dodoo meant Leicester were deserving winners

Have you got any more information on Joe Dodoo - I've heard that he's only 15?! Is he some sort of wonderkid?
