STUHILL Posted 15 December 2010 Posted 15 December 2010 Can we afford his wages will be key I think. We probably can but do we want a player who will be much higher paid than the rest of the current 1st team players? I think he will only consider a permanent move if we are in the Play-offs in January too. I think signing Naughton and Cunningham should be higher on our list of priorities as Hobbs, Vitor and potentially Tunch give us good options until the Summer. I wouldn't exactly complain if we did sign Davies though. He would still be the best CB at the club.
muzzy1981 Posted 15 December 2010 Posted 15 December 2010 The only way we can afford Davies wages is if we get promoted, so ideally we extend his loan with view to a perm deal if we get promoted. As Sven highlighted recently it will all come down to Davies decision. The choice will be between staying put and being happy playing every week with the possibility of lifein the Prem with us versus a guranteed big contract in the bag in jan to cover him for the next few years. Footballers are notoriously greedy so I do lean towards the latter. But hope i'm wrong! Go on Sven get wealin n dealing!

He's on premiership wages now, and will be to the end of the season ( still on loan or purchased ). He will be on premiership wages next season as well, either with us or some other team he might go to. From a finance point of view his income will be the same wherever he is. I like Alexandre Tunchev, so does Sven!

I like Alexandre Tunchev, so does Sven! He has two years left on his villa contract. If Weder Bremen came in and offered him a 4year contract that would be an extra 2 years based on £25k p/y thats an extra £2.6m. I doubt teams are queing at the door to sign him particualry being that Villa paid £8m for him and would like a decent return. So what i'm saying he has too weigh up is whether the opportunity to sign for a big club on big wages will come knocking at the end of this season if stayed playing for us on loan and we didn't get promoted.
STUHILL Posted 15 December 2010 Posted 15 December 2010 I can see his agent working hard in Jan trying to get a club like Bolton, Fulham etc to try sign him, therefore he gets to stay in the Prem and remain on high Prem wages. Failing that, I think he will want to remain on Villa's books so he can pick up the 25k p/w but extend his loan with us so he can keep playing regular Football. The more I think about it, the less likely I think he would ever sign for us on a Permanent whilst we are still in the Championship.
Jackirius Posted 15 December 2010 Posted 15 December 2010 If we tried to get Beckham on his wages surely we can afford Davies's...
