davieG Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Merc Leicester City's academy side will be looking to book a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup tonight when they face Preston North End in the fifth round at the Walkers Stadium (7.0). Jon Rudkin's under-18s reached this stage two years ago but were knocked out by eventual winners, Chelsea, atStamford Bridge. They have the added incentive of a home tie in the next round against Sheffield United, if they emerge victorious. City will be boosted by the return from injury of Jeffrey Schlupp. The striker suffered an ankle injury in the last-round victory over Blackburn Rovers, but has been training with the first team. "Everyone is looking forward to what should be a great occasion," said Rudkin. "It is good for the lads to play at the Walkers and, after the surface has been relaid, it is an excellent surface. We played on it against Blackburn in the last round and it will be a good experience for the boys playing under the lights. "We have a good incentive to get through because we have been drawn at home to Sheffield United in the quarter-finals, but we have a very difficult tie first against Preston. "Any side that gets this far in the competition have done so on merit and will be good." He added: "The chairman and vice-chairman have indicated they will try to come along and the first-team staff are also coming, so we will have great support from the club."
ashfosse Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 do you know how much tickets are?? would be well up for going to watch
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 I went to a match against Liverpool in last year's youth cup & I'm sure tickets were a fiver or possible even less. Seem to remember paying £3 so I'd imagine they'll be a similar price this time around. It'd be good to get as many people down there as possible.
davieG Posted 23 February 2011 Author Posted 23 February 2011 OS - http://www.lcfc.com/page/AcademyNewsArticle/0,,10274~2300369,00.html Admission for Wednesday night's game at the Walkers Stadium will be priced £3 for Adults and £1 for Under-16s. The tie must be decided on the night, with extra-time and penalties a possibility if the tie cannot be decided in 90 minutes.

NorthernFox Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Half Time 2-2 Lads have recovered well from going behind twice, finishing the half much stronger. Norburn looks a player and Schlupp is a speed merchant in bright yellow boots. George Taft has a throw-in which can reach the 6 yard box from the halfway line. Playing 4-3-3.
