ealingfox Posted 10 March 2011 Posted 10 March 2011 I'll happily admit through January and Feb I got caught up in the idea that we were incredible and thought top 6 was a certainty walking out of Bramall Lane. Now like many others, I think the play-offs are out of sight realistically, but then I considered the facts. Last Thursday marked 5 months of Sven's reign. Five!. In rocketing us up the table, Sven has become a victim of his own success as expectation rose too high. The Championship is a unique division, it takes time to conquer. Looking at the top 6, there are two teams who are always in the mix and have a formula for it, two teams who are not unlike us last year, and two teams where everything has come together for this season. All six have a first-team core that have been together a while. Burnley can be added to that. Sven is still tinkering and working out exactly what he wants this team to look like. After steering us away from certain relegation with laughable ease, I can't see how anyone can deny him time to do that. Yes we've spent money, but what money gives you is only half the story. It should have been expected and accepted early on. For an example, look at Man City. If money brings instant success, why haven't they wrapped up the league already? Yes, when we came up against good teams, we were disjointed, we lack finishing ability, we lack grit, unity and determination and i'm not surprised, because that's what you develop over time. I have every confidence that after a whole summer of Sven, and even the rest of this season will help, he will fashion something impressive. All he and the team needs is patience and support. Cliche time: Rome wasn't built in a day. Barcelona's team was not built in five months. Come on the Foxes!
The Doctor Posted 10 March 2011 Posted 10 March 2011 Is this a wind up?? When you're smiling, Burn the forest, Iwan is a welshman, Molly Malone, manchester brag about the summerbee and best...., Those were the days, this great team, leicester blue boys, Oh when the blues, bring on the sunderland , wings of an eagle, all the chants for individual players and a few others i can't remember at the moment. We've got a fairly good song book, it just seems to have been tossed aside in favour of generic "C'mon leicester" like chants.
