"Kingy’s had a good week already as it appears as though Matt Oakley has decided to hand over the captain’s armband to him permanently and, as I know, captaining this great club of ours is a fantastic honour, particularly for such a young player. He’s more of a modern day, David Beckham type of skipper, who will lead by example, and hopefully captaining the side will continue to bring out the best in him. "It’s a nice gesture from Matt Oakley, who will still have a big influence on the dressing room, I’m sure. It’s good that he’s signed a new contract with the club and I’m sure he’ll continue to perform at a high level for the team when called upon. "As well as Oakley, Richie Wellens and Paul Gallagher have signed new deals to commit their futures to the club. For me, they’re both capable of playing in the top flight and they’ll both be vital for the club in the next few years. I’m sure they will have signed their deals with Premier League football in mind. Let’s hope they can realise that ambition next season… but time is running out for City this term."
