Matt Posted 12 June 2005 Share Posted 12 June 2005 At least the Tescos is open! 120005 I went there today...The builders didn't seem to be workign on the Coventry stadium today, ok it is a Sunday, and as I said i'm in the trade and I know for one unless I desperatly needed the money or my company desperatly needed me (and I mean desperatly needed me) you wouldn't catch me working on a sunday but the builders are saying the stadium won't be finished by the start of the season - The builders are asking for more time to compleate the stadium...you'd think the builders would be working more hours wouldn't you?!?! Anyway on the subject of the new Tescos by the Cov stadium, its pretty good, its massive, and pretty cheap!

Matt Posted 18 June 2005 Share Posted 18 June 2005 I was unfortunate enough to HAVE to go to Covscum and Coventry Chamber of Commerce stadium launch day about a year ago. Have to say that the stadium itself is very similar to The Walkers but the likeness ends there. The casino will be stunning with the yanks from Biloxi putting huge amounts of cash into the building. There will be loads of restaurants and venues for live acts which they hope will draw people in and eventually lead to punters spending on the tables as UK citizens become accustomed to visiting a casino. There is even a large indoor waterfall being built. The venue also has extensive conference and trade show facilities. The main stand has the executive boxes which are turned into hotel rooms when football is not being played. It will be interesting to see if the real thing matches up to the glitzy images I saw. Mind you a lot has gone wrong so far - a fire, Jaguar pulling out, failure to get the ok for the rail station at the side of the stadium which was designed to bring at least 3,000 fans to each game from Cov centre and financial problems for the club itself (tee hee) The whole place will look stunning with 13,000 fans in it next season 119989 I know we have more than 13,000 fans turning up at the walkers but we can't really laugh at poor attendances or poor atmosphere can we?!?!?
