Jeff Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 There are still some good seats to be had for next week's show at the Curve which will feature Matt Elliott, Steve Walsh, Gerry Taggart, Tony Cottee & host Alan Birchenall indulging in a night of nostalgia. They will be re-living the glory years, when trips to Wembley were commonplace, and basically discussing all things City. Tickets are priced at £14.50, £18.50 & £22.50 and can be purchased from the box office on 0116 242 3595 or online at www.curveonline.co.uk

danlcfc4ever Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 went last night... heard some interesting stories from the lads RE la manga & lee hoos. was a great nights entertainment Lets hear them!
Rustyfox Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 Basically, Taggart said that during Pearsons time as manager they had arranged to get Cleverly on loan for another season & persuaded Mark Davies to come back to the club but Hoos was to blame for both deals falling through. The fees mentioned were tiny compared to the figures considered for the players we had last season, but Hoos wasnt happy with the cost. Apparently Hoos even called Fergy about Cleverly to get him cheaper & thats why it didnt happen. RE La Manga 2, just sounded like a boys night out that got blown out of proportion. Matty Elliott does like to tell a good story
BlueBlood1980 Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 I went last night too, I just have to share this. In the questions and answers, this question was read out. Who is the best opposing player you've played against? Taggert and Walshy replied... Dennis Bergkamp. Elliots reply.... "for me it definitely has to be... Junior Lewis!" Hahaha. "I don't proclaim to be a world class player" he said "but there's levels!" Quality.

Matty Elliott does like to tell a good story Lee Hoos is a waste of space, two seriously good players that could of been the difference between promotion or not. be interesting to hear some more about La Manga...
Rustyfox Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 The Junior Lewis remark was quality. what was it he said... "Birch, you asked me what player gave me the most problems..." Walshy & Cottee also professed their love for Peter Taylor. We all know that Taylor made a balls up of our club at that time, but it sounds like the bloke was generally a complete plonka. As for La Manga, they did say a couple of the lads that had a good time with some lady friends but was blown up obv cos of being footballers etc. They also mentioned Lillian Nalis trying to punch some local in the back of the police van though which sounded pretty funny. he seemed like such a quiet lad! From what they were saying the atmosphere around the players and club in Martin O'neill's days was as good as you'd expect. a bunch of lads that got on great and worked their nuts off
Yojoe36 Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 I couldnt believe you actually had any legends Wow, how ignorant are you
Bayfox Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 Loved Mattys honesty in relation to how he felt when MON left and PT got the job, " I went from playing with Walshy, TC, muzzy and lenny to Junior Lewis, Lee Marshall and Trevor Benjamin and wondered what the **** am I doing here"
Rustyfox Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 was nice to hear Birch open up about a few things too. ...the more booze they consumed the better the stories got!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 went last night... heard some interesting stories from the lads RE la manga & lee hoos. was a great nights entertainment was there too, yes i agree it was very interesting, that Lee Hoos fella sounds like a real bell end

Rustyfox Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 imagine if Cottee & Walsh had got the job rather than Taylor
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 imagine if Cottee & Walsh had got the job rather than Taylor yeah i was thinking that last night. I mean Walshy and Cottee would of brought a bit of passion back to the club, instead we got that wet lettuce Taylor
Jeff Posted 24 June 2011 Author Posted 24 June 2011 Thanks very much to all those who came along last night. I thought it was a very enjoyable evening and Matt's story about Nallis punching the spanish snorer whilst handcuffed to Dickov was very funny. Some very honest comments made by the guys and I thought they were all very good. Just need to work on the follow-up now and it would be interesting to hear who you would like to see in this type of show.
