BartonFox Posted 20 June 2005 Posted 20 June 2005 Ok, the reason I don't want to sign Kenton was because the match I saw him play (vs. Blackburn in the FA Cup) he wasn't very good. Ok, so I am basing this on one game, but he looked like he had no idea what to do, he looked like a lost kid. We don't need a player like that. Waste of money 125277[/snapback] I understand your viewpoint and can see where you're coming from, but it was no coincidence when he moved into the middle alongside McCarthey we improved markedly.
davieG Posted 20 June 2005 Posted 20 June 2005 I'm happy to leave it up to CL, having said that he wasn't too impressive against Sunderland
Guest freund Posted 20 June 2005 Posted 20 June 2005 well you guys would know better than me, but from what I've seen, no thanks
supedaj Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 He's a good player at this level no doubt. One bad game cannot be used to judge him really. He made a few mistakes but it wasnt his natural position and he was playing on that side against one of the best attacking midfielders in teh country. Gamst Pederson is class and it was always going to be a difficult game for him regardless. Apart from that, he has looked confident, pacy and assured in other performances for us and these will only get better over the next year. I urge CL to sign him asap - he's the right age and has a good attitude when we do see him play. PS : Another fact is that he was Man of the match two times last season in the premiership before he dropped into reserves and was loaned out to us - a few stats for all those interested. Look up reports for these matches last year and they should have a word or two about Kenton (maybe saints official site will?). I would look this up but dont have the time right now... 16 Oct 2004 Everton Vs Southampton 1-0 13 Nov 2004 Southampton Vs Portsmouth 2-1
adam Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 hes not tall enough for a centre half. i dont think we should waste money on this bloke. i was not too impressed with him. Just played a bit too much like andy impey!
LoneWolf Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 I hope we do sign him, hes a good young player. when i seen him play he had a really good game, i cant remember when it was but it was good. (i didnt have a season ticket last season cos i didnt get good grades in ma exams so ma dad was a idiot about it!!) Defo gettin 1 this season tho!!
blay25 Posted 21 June 2005 Posted 21 June 2005 bit baffled by all this talk about kenton. i remember him playing in the middle last game of the season, but not much besides. maybe i'm wrong, but that doesn't seem a lot to go on if we're saying he's better in the middle than out on the right. yes he is a bit small, yes he did make a few mistakes and it's interesting that southampton, who are now in the same league as us AND had a terrible defence last year, don't want him. as for him being young, i'm pretty sure he's nearly 27. he may well be a great signing, but let's not get carried away.
