chili_con_carne Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Do they have enough to prove? I think the only player's we've signed with something to prove and that want to play at the highest level are Peltier (up a division) Schmeichel, Nugent, Mills and Michael johnson but he is only just about in the team. Pantsil - down a division, international. Beckford - down a division for a payrise. Danns - turned down champions league football for more money. Konchesky - down a division for the best pay anyone was offering. Fernandes - on loan from ligue 1 in france - down a division. We need some loan signings from the premiership that are young and have a lot to prove. Sven has had a poor summer transfer window - let's be honest. Also the 2 player's per position idea has turned out to be ridiculous. We now find a situation where we have player's with big egos and on big money like Danns not even in the squad. They were rumours that Danns stormed off today when he found out he wasn't in the squad. I feel we need a motivator in charge to get the best out of these players and Sven isn't that. But with the owners we have in charge I can only see them changing the manager if a more high profile one comes about that they have heard of. Do you really think they have heard of the likes of Dave Jones and billy davies who would probably do a good job here. Last season we improved under Sven when he took charge because of the amount of loan signings he made - all of which were young, talented players who want to be playing at the highest level. So what i'm saying is - is it a coincidence that all the players who have come down a divison haven't been that good?
Yojoe36 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Kasper is by far the best signing. Nugent will deliver also. Peltier too. Mills just blows it, as soon as he's playing well Everyone else is dire
Narborough_fox Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Yes there were rumours Danns stormed off but as he posted on twi(a)tter he had to pick up his family to watch the match.

Narborough_fox Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Stringer said that on the com too. Didn't listen but fair enough.
Fox92 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Sometimes I question Sven's signings, but here is my evaluation. I think I have everyone listed. Michael Johnson - Clearly has the quality, hence he plays for Manchester City. Pantsil - Don't rate him. Beckford - Scored a lot in League 1. Played in a very good and strong Everton side and scored 8 goals. Over paid for him. Danns - Has the pace which Wellens, Johnson, Abe and King don't have. Should play in my opinion, but, not given a chance and is in one week and out the other. Konchesky - Decent. Fernandes - Doesn't offer anything different than Abe, Wellens, Johnson, King etc Peltier - Good signing. Good at getting forward and back. Nugent - Excellent, and free which is great. Kasper - Excellent. Mills - Paid over the top and is fairly inconsistant. A rock one week and looks unsettled the next. St. Ledger - Not really played that much, but I have not been that impressed either. Prefer him over Bamba though.
Corky Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 So far I've been impressed with Schmeichel, Nugent, Konchesky and Peltier. The others have had some decent performances but consistently the ones above have the better signings.
