Like I've said before on a different thread if we don't score enough goals how are we going to challenge the pacemakers?. No wingers, less than outstanding strikers and a dodgy old goalkeeper according to the Celtic website. Hope Levein proves an organising genius! I'm already sick of hearing who MIGHT be coming here. By the time anyone gets here there won't be time to build up an atmopshere of optimism. And we'll be playing the first dozen games trying to decide our best team and that's nothing new. Which reminds me. Is there any update on season ticket sales cos I doubt there's been a stampede?. Levein might like being understated but does he realise that its part of his job to persuade the public that it's worth committing their increasingly hard-kept spare money to watching City?. That commitment needs to be made sooner rather than later and, in many cases, it won't be made at all if there's nothing to spark the enthusiasm of the "undecideds".

Last season we had a very very poor supply line for our strikers, and everyone utomatically assumes we dont have anyone to score a goal, what rubbish. Connolly for instance scored 43 goals in 2 seasons for little old wimbledon 2 years ago, yes only 2 seasons ago, in a struggling outfit. This season coming we have enough at the back to release our better midfield in helping our attack and to score goals. Dont forget morris thracian mate, hes a very tricky winger/striker. ok hes unfit, but he must be due some fitness luck and he can help enlighten our season. CL will bring in the necesserry strikers if needed, dont worry. AND remember, its ONLY JUNE... Remember this too, we dont have enough finance to bring in a top quality striker, midfielder or defender. what we will bring in is back up to connolly/dubs and de lump, sorry vries. CHILL.

But our answers are not with morris - i doubt he'll be anywhere near what he was before he got injured, and even then he wasnt great really. It will take him a long time to adapt again and I doubt very much that many people will expect much off him. We cant really think of him when basing our opinions for the coming season. Our defenders will be better this season and you are right it will probably allow our midfielders to get fwd more and help the strikers. I agree with thracian on a few points and am deffo sick of hearing who MIGHT come here. This waiting game is just getting on my nerves now ;o)
Hitesh Posted 29 June 2005 Posted 29 June 2005 Well i definitly think we need 1 more striker because then there is compeition for places and this is always good to have. However, this isnt priority, we need a defender and a decent winger. I do rate Connely and i think given the service he can become a threat. This is something we saw at the end of last season. But people do need to chill out a bit. iv said this before, its only June and there is still a long way to go before the season starts. Obviously the quicker they arrive the better but negotiations can take time and CL probably wants to make sure he gets the right players.
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 29 June 2005 Posted 29 June 2005 Yeah, the strikers situation is nothing to worry about at the moment, there is still time before the new season to do some dealings - and the rumors are that the gaffa is doing so. We do need another striker true, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
