Ric Flair Posted 4 July 2005 Posted 4 July 2005 I know this might be a coincidence that Rob Kelly was at Blackburn and Nissa Johansson was aswell, but I think it shows how important Rob Kelly has been for us under Levein. I remember reading that Rob kelly was highly influential in pointing Levein towards Paddy McCarthy and I imagie he's done a similar thing with Johansson is he signs. It's nice to see an assistant manager making a name for himself, although hands off other clubs

Kelly will be influential over the next few years over development of our young players and other players that join us...especially the youngsters. No Premiership team tends to hire crap anymore (hence Kelly at Blackburn) although Taylor got a job...

I remember when we signed McCarthy, Levein said that Rob Kelly's knowledge on players from the North of England was phenomenal and alot of clubs were looking at McCarthy but Leicester knew they had to steam in right away.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 5 July 2005 Posted 5 July 2005 Paddy would've gone to Sunderland if Keegan's pride hadn't been hurt by the Elliott deal. We're lucky that we didn't miss out on him.

"Patrick has been at Manchester City since joining them straight from school and, as I worked a lot in the North-West, I know all about his progress."The boss and coach Peter Houston had been down from Scotland to see him as well before they came here so we know a lot about him. "In Manchester, there were a lot of experienced players in his position so he did not get much chance of first-team football there. "He fits the profile of the sort of player we are looking for, young and looking towards furthering his career as much as possible. "He is a good athlete, very mobile for such a big lad and, having been captain at many levels, including the Under-21s for his country, he is a leader as well." http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/disp...tentPK=11940230
Teeno Posted 5 July 2005 Posted 5 July 2005 I think the current coaching staff seem to be a close knit bunch. When Micky was here it seemed Corky did everything but I think Craig and the other 3 coaches all do a lot of work and work well together.

They're all different and all bring their own speciality to the team. Kenny Black is probably the most overlooked because he actually does as much if not more running than the players. He's the first coach we've had in ages who actually gets properly involved in the training. Kelly tells the lads where they're going wrong and advises them and Houston and Levein stand back and take note. Good balance of team spirit and separation between playing staff and gaffer.
