Did anyone see the Horizon programme on high Intensity Training?

I saw a few clips and read the articles but didn't get to watch the programme.

Sounds like my type of Fitness programme. 3 mins a week.

would love to hear more from anyone who watched.

Yeah I watched it, all the headlines about this show were a little misleading.

Its true that 3 minutes of intense excercise maybe all some need, that's if your genectically set up to respond that way.

the person taking part was a non responder as far as improving his fitness levels, however he improved his insulin sensitivity.

Amazing to think that some of the people you see in the gym may be doing all that excercise for very little reward.

It was a really interesting programme but quite a dangerous message. Lots of people will see the results and think that training for 3 minutes is enough to keep healthy. In reality (and a point they did pick up on in the programme) everyone is different in terms of the speed at which we gain fitness and the types of exercise we need to do to maintain and improve it.

The conclusions were pretty much entirely based on two measures - effectiveness of insulin in controlling blood sugar levels and our VO2 max. Both are good indicators of overall health but what about all the other benefits of more prolonged exercise... strength, endurance, flexibility, weight loss, mental health, etc.
