Leicester's finances

Will missing out on the playoffs/promotion have an impact on Leicester's spending power next season? Will you have to sell before you buy or do you have a rich enough set of directors to absorb this years spree? Cheers.

I think a fair amount of the investment this season will be realised next season. In other words, the likes of Konchesky, Schmeichel, Nugent, Beckford will still be at the club and won't be worse for a season getting to know each other.

While Sven did bring in the basis of a good side, he ruined the atmosphere in the dressing room by buying too many player, many of which were on higher wages than others without justifying being worth more to the club. For instance, Richie Wellens has been a solid servant of the club for many seasons but was probably on much less than Michael Johnson who hardly played a game. We have already shipped out the likes of Michael Johnson and Michael Ball who just absorbed a wage and should be looking to move on the likes of John Pantsil too.

In other words, we don't have a bad side anyway and we have freed up some of the money wasted by Sven. I'm sure the board will make some money available but I doubt as much as last Summer.

Luckily for us, I don't think we need to spend that much more to add a few decent additions to the decent squad already here. I'm expecting a good season next year.

The appetite for spending again will no doubt be reduced, but I assume that's one of the reasons for appointing a manager who goes about things in a sustainable manner.

Doesn't really matter how much spending power we have Pearson will not want to splash the cash

There's a big difference between a little money, no money and a deficit.

I think we will have a more modest amount of money to spend.

So sell some of those that didn't work out, keep the better ones and use a mixture of the money gained from the sales and a (more modest) directors investment to strengthen the team. Sounds like a good plan.

Good luck next season, and love to Phoebe.

Missing out on the 1- 2million from the play offs wont affect us at all. Obviously, missing promotion will do. From the Thai's perspective they've attracted an up and coming manager in Sousa, a high profile manager in Sven and a fans favourite in NP, spent 50 million and achieved absolutely f*** all. If that dosen't stop them spending I dont know what will.

Paying contracts off, for the likes of Matt Mills is an expensive job, all of his transfer fee will disappear in compensation. So the policy looks like being bring in less talented but more team orientated players, spend another 10 million in doing so and hope it gets us promoted. That will be 60 million in debt, lets hope we're not midtable.

If we'd stuck with Sven he might have got the best out of his players and got us promoted for 50 million debt and if we'd kept NP first time around, he would have put together next years team for probably 20million. What a f*** up, but highlights why we need to get behind NP.
