Raw Dykes Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 thanks...i prefer to call it a 'floating comma'... thought i was the only person that noticed gives me hives not as bad as the people that spell 'lose' as 'loose' though.. why does this happen? is it because everybody is stupid??? Loose the match. Eurgh. Yeah, that winds me up as well. I think you've hit the nail on the head as to the reason why.
flowwolf Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 It's called an apostrophe, and people misuse it all over the place, especially with writing a plural. If something is plural, it just needs an s on the end, with no apostrophe, e.g. Thais. An apostrophe should be used as a replacement for a missing letter, e.g. would not - wouldn't, does not - doesn't, or when someone owns something, e.g. Marshall's wonder strike, Tunchev's dodgy knees. If there was just one Thai owner, it would be the Thai's club, but as there's more than one (the Thais), then it is the Thais' club. Have you ever thought people may like to do it just to wind up the pedants among us ?
svensson Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 What are you talking about? They haven't put any money in... the club essentially owes them all the money (+ interest) spunked up the wall since their arrival, if not before as they must have had a hand in the Abe deal & the appointment of a 'name' manager so they can sell shirt in their duty free shops The effect is, they've already spent next years revenues, the year after, the year after the year after and so on & on as they backed a manager who previously has a record for buying success, but forgot he'd done less than nothing for a decade... Any clown could have done all this. It's the absolute height of recklessness and irresponsibility. Thankfully the appointment of NP showed they'd quickly learned their unsustainable lesson, we'll see if they remember that lesson or chose to start the whole cycle yet again in the coming weeks Wrong, they don't sell shirts in their duty free, I was in bangkok in Jan, I did visit the King Power Head office and it was very very impressive, a lot of money there. At the KP HQ they had a very small LCFC concession stand next to the Lacoste shop. Make of it what you will, but it didnt seem like a marketing ploy.
Raw Dykes Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Have you ever thought people may like to do it just to wind up the pedants among us ? Often. I would never have mentioned it if it hadn't been brought up already. You just have to learn to ignore it. Selective reading. It's a skill.

Was in Bankok last March, and at their main shop at the airport there was a merchandise stand. It made me feel all warm inside because it clearly means something.
cecchini Posted 26 April 2012 Posted 26 April 2012 will try post post a pic. cant seem to figure it out!
