Talk Talk

thought there was a thread cant find it.

Just called Virgin up to cancel my Broadband and telephone and it seems it will work out dearer to keep the TV that I have M size plus recordable box plus the Talk Talk 12 month £17 deal. The TV on its own is £18. My bill this month is £35.40. They offered me a deal which upgrades my TV with Tel and broadband £30. If I want to take the M+ off it would go down to £25 and if I can connect to a digital areal and just have Freeview it would go down to around £20

So had to call Talk Talk to cancel. Never expected the TV to cost £12 on its own Hope I've done the right thing. The talk talk deal was for 12 month so the broadband/phone would go up to £21 and I would be no better off after a year. Even now with both them and Virgin it would work out more. They reconsidered and said they'd do the new deal at £14 but it would still be more. Not sure if I need the M+ but I am paying less now anyway and could reduce so will see how it goes.

Well I think I have a reasonable deal now. Before calling Talk Talk I did receive an email that said something like, please call us we must sort this out. I was asking on the online chat why new customers seemed to get the best deals.

But from what he said new customers will pay the full rate after the offer ends existing customers only have to sign yearly contracts but are guaranteed for three. And they can be negotiated for less. He said they'd prefer to keep people and some offers may look good but are not always.

It wont cost me much even if I decide to get a freeview box and take awaythe TV to buy out contract. I now have M+ TV but can go back to the normal M.

Maybe I should threaten to quit Virgin and see if they offer me a better tv deal. I don't even use it, I only have the free M tv with the phone line. I have freeview & freesat in the living room and bedroom so I tend to watch freesat. A few channels on Virgin that I don't have on the others would be nice so may be worth a try

Yes its worth a try. I know it was only sales talk but he said even though new customer deals look good they will try and offer existing customers better and extended deals. The price with Talk Talk would have been 12 month then with the normal price and even with freeview I would not be much better off. The new customer for Virgin is 6 months but I have a reduction on only a yearly contract as opposed to 18 month for new cust. And the price is for 3 years. I can reduce the TV to a normal M but I am saving £5 atm which is getting closer to my target. I will see how things are in a month when the figures are updated. My bill was £8 less this month. made no calls which surprised me. Well no chargable ones. So if I can keep that down things will be better. One or two job applications going through
