davieG Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 Why does one of the team generally wear a different coloured shirt, are they the Captain?
goose2010 Posted 30 July 2012 Posted 30 July 2012 The player is called a libero. The person can sub in and out of the game for a backrow player at any time, and the substitution will not subtract from the substitution amount. The reason the color is different is so the ref knows who the libero is and doesn't call someone else for a technical

Or perhaps they have s specialist skill.

Not exactly, the Libero is a defensive specialist so they have a specifc role to do, its also worth noting that they are not allowed to attack and score points.

So I was right in one thing they have a specialist skill. Anyway thanks for the explanation, I have played the game locally at an evening fitness class but obviously we didn't have the quality or set up to have this although I did tend to get subbed a lot.
