ozleicester Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Looking at quelling my midlife crisis in a cheap and still family oriented fashion by buying an oldish (2000) Saab 93 convertible. Anyone owned one, any feedback good or bad?

Zingari Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 yes i've had 4 SAABs , an old 99 . A 900 , A 93 convertible ( year 2000 in a lovely dark green with cream interior ) and 9-3 sport , and all of them were really good cars that gave me little or no trouble. i soon got fed up with the impracticalities of the convertible though
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 thats all i needed.. decision made hehehe Even better as it was a present from my brothers boss.

Perth is the ideal place for convertible..so..what the hell i say Even better as it was a present from my brothers boss. Fookin hell... does your brother work for Clive Palmer?

Didn't know they had Saab! .. sort yself out... thats only one type... the Commodore Ute Of course the Ford ute is soo much better (see the huge difference ) You can work the farm in the week.. then take the wife to church on Sunday You must have been going to all of the exclusive parts of town i take it
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 Haha, there was the Commodore saloon too, I was driving one whilst over there - great big engine, totally put to waste with all the overly strict speed limits coupled with sneaky camera locations! 5 litre engine... the 1l VW Lupo I got home to felt ridiculous after
Bellend Sebastian Posted 24 August 2012 Posted 24 August 2012 The bloke two doors down from me has got three old ones so he obviously likes them. Historically, the people I've known with them have said that they're pretty good but not cheap to put right. Another thing to be aware of is that since they went the way of the pear there have been some parts supply issues. I know someone who managed to lose both keys (yes, pretty daft) and with no dealer network and the parts on back order forever, he ended up having to cannibalise the entire security system from another car that had presumably been written off. It was a lucky escape really because the bits cost him about £400 but if he'd had to buy them new it would have been about £2000, and that's if they'd actually been available. Presumably this will sort itself in time but the parts supply line is apparently all over the place at the minute
