Orkneyfox Posted 1 December 2012 Posted 1 December 2012 I did post this some where else but I wondered if it was worth it's own thread. http://www.bbc.co.uk...cation-20498359 The league table of education authorities. Says it all really: BOTTOM FIVE Telford and Wrekin 53% Wakefield 52% Thurrock 49% Derby 43% Coventry 42%
Harry - LCFC Posted 1 December 2012 Posted 1 December 2012 I went to a school that was only rated satisfactory and got 6 A*s and 6 As. The school doesn't make a lot of difference, almost totally down to the student in my opinion. In any case, I felt all my teachers were actually rather good at conveying their knowledge. It was probably just the students' behaviour that brought the school's rating down.

The school is responsible for discipline, and that is a key factor in pupils achieving there potential.

The teachers can guide them in the right direction but ultimately it's up to the one who does the exams to behave correctly.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 December 2012 Posted 1 December 2012 In fairness; local authorities are becoming less relevant with the proliferation of academies and free schools, but the discrepancy between different areas is very worrying.
