whitlock Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 In a nutshell. First year of driving, some women drove into me, minimal damage to me, she had to have a new bumper i believe, not my fault, i have a witness to prove but she is denying it, shes claimed but i havent, still on going. Renewal is up at the end of this month and i want to change insurers (for a cheaoer quote) When filling out new forms, do i state i have 1 years NCB? technically i still have it but i guess i wont get a certificate untill its solved? Or do i state i have 0 years NCB? If the case is resolved and i am told i wasn't in the wrong and recieve my 1 years NCB will my new insurance reimburse me £x of the discount of my 1 years NCB? Cheers in advance
The Year Of The Fox Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 Just get a quote for both. Ring em n explain the situation. They should be able to discount you if you pay a zero the 1 year no claimNCB policy if you do get
Leicester Piggott Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 Quote on basis zero NCB. They will let it go on cover with one years' NCB, all the while knowing you don't have one year. They will then use this against you in the future. There are a number of databases which insurers share and motor insurers are about the hottest around for this. Don't risk it.
Soar Fox Posted 6 February 2013 Posted 6 February 2013 Had something similar myself in June 2012. Was travelling down a side road in braunstone and a car pulled out of a side road on the left and smashed into me. I was 24 at the time and had no claims bonus since passing at the age of 17. Anyway the car was a write off. My insurance agreed to give me £5250 for my car (BMW 1 series) they then took £500 excess off me so that left me with £4750. Now I'm still trying to fight my case, the lad who smashed into me is saying it wasn't his fault even though he pulled out on me going straight into my passenger side door. I've rang up my insurance and they told me they've sent letters to the person who hit me but haven't had a reply back. I'm not too sure what to do now. I'd like to get my excess back cause surely it wasn't my fault. My insurance is up for renewal in April will my premium go up and will I have lost my NCB?

Check if you had legal protection on your policy. If so, there will be a helpline number to call.
Jace Posted 7 February 2013 Posted 7 February 2013 Agree with Piggott the claim is underwritten now its not worth risking invalidating your insurance over, I did a quote on my insurance the other day with 4 years ncb and 0 years ncb and it was only £100 difference anyway
AyewJoking Posted 7 February 2013 Posted 7 February 2013 im considereing giving up on cars for a while, i have 8 years no claims so if i dont own a car for say 2 years, will i be able to get a quote with 10 years no claims?
DJMadness29 Posted 7 February 2013 Posted 7 February 2013 I'm stuck in pretty much the same situation. March 2011 someone drove into the back of my car, which the missus had took to Liverpool for the day, in Lewis's car park. They've said that my missus reversed into them despite being at a t junction about to turn. This is nearly 2 years old and still hasn't been resolved. I'm hoping that I get my money back as they've told me I would but not counting on it. Be nice to get a payment back though. im considereing giving up on cars for a while, i have 8 years no claims so if i dont own a car for say 2 years, will i be able to get a quote with 10 years no claims? No because you only get no claims if you've got insurance.

No, otherwise first time drivers would always have 17 years no claims!
