That said, and this kind of goes against what we've just said but I like the Statue of Liberty near the KP. Looks very cool but I suppose it has the meaning of bring off of the roof of Liberty Shoes.

Perhaps it's because I'm from this fair city but to me we don't seem to have an identity or anything the our population is generally proud of. When I run the Great North Run the locals are clearly very proud of their event and everyone comes out in support. Compare that to the Leicester Marathon and you run through the city centre past bemused looking shoppers! Even with The discovery of the King has led to arguments over what to do with him, tomb or slab!

Perhaps if Leicester's "thing" is our diverse culture then I imagine with so many different opinions there is less chance of a majority liking it. Is a good idea in principle, but Saino's would probably do better just to get an artist to design something and do it that way. I dunno.

Edit: I also like the Football/Rugby/Cricket statue outside HSBC next to the Clock Tower
