Probably because Mr Pearson realised that is other options were

Waghorn - NFP has finally realised that for the vast majority of the season he couldn't hit the proverbial cow's backside with a banjo

Vardy - oh dear, very willing but million quid down the Swanee

Futacs - big bloke but not shown any signs of consistently knowing where the goal is.

Wood is a good YOUNG striker and we will see him mature as a goal scorer, let's hope he gets fit and starts next season as he did when he joined us.

whos fault is that??? pearsons.. he bought futacs, he bought vardy.  then even when he brings in kane he uses him either out wide or as a sub..

Totally agree, wasn't suggesting anything other than Pearson was playing Wood, allegedly still carrying a knock, because he realised that his other options were worse than Wood operating at 50, 60, 70 %

Your point re Kane is spot on and I for one felt for the guy when he spent most of his loan period being wasted out wide, didn't stop the trolls from suggesting he is a crap player, and given time and playing him in the right position just may have made him the difference for us towards the end of the season. NFP seemed to think Nugent was good out wide as well, again many thought Nuge was poor as well.

May have got many things wrong BUT both Cloughie and Martin O'Neill used to think that you should play a player in the position he knows, tell him to do his job and expect others to do theirs.

I digress, my point was that a half fit Wood was still more inviting than the other options - the fault on the alternatives is clear to see.

Wood showed his clinical scoring ability when he arrived at Leicester - he was in the right place at the right time, gambled, followed balls in the box and took shots and chances because he was confident and fit, let's hope that he comes back next season the same.
